Hello all,

I have just returned to UO after about 9 years and have some questions about vendors. I have read the info on stratics but am still left wondering if that info is up to date.
1. How does it usually work to rent a vendor from another player, is there anything I should watch out for ie. scams?
2. What is the vendor fee currently? stratics says 1gp for every 500 in merchandise every 8 hours, so if I had 20 million in high end items on my vendor that would be like 60,000 a day?
3. What are the ways you can pay a vendor, gold, check ,direct from your bank?

If anyone could answer these questions and maybe give me a heads up on anything else I might need to know I would really apreciate it.

Wow has this game changed!!

Best scam prevention is to go with someone you trust and have known for a while, preferably a real-life acquaintance Someone you could physically strangle if need be. Failing that, there's really not much a landlord can do to scam you. They can't up your rent without your agreement & you can still claim your vendor's inventory if it runs out of funds anyway.

Sounds about right. Best to start out small if you've limited funds to pay your vendors.

The quickest way to cash up a vendor I've found is to put a coin or something on the vendor for 5m - or however much you need - and have someone else buy it (with your money). Again, you either need someone you can trust to help or use a second account.

Thanks for the info,
I wish they made it so you could pay vendor fees direct from bank accounts, that would be a whole lot easier.
Do fees from a vendor rental contract from another player also have to be payed by your vendor or are they payed from your bank account?

The only thing I would add to this is to check your vendor regularly. A dirty landlord could stop your contract from auto-renewing, and after the contract runs out the vendor goes to the house sign. You (the renter) then have a set number of house (80 or 90 I think), to reclaim that vendor and it's gold and items. (You do that by opening the context menu on the house sign and select 'reclaim vendor's inventory') After that time period expires the vendor's goods drop into the moving crate of the house, and the landlord will have full access to them. I'm not sure you can claim them from the house sign anymore after they go into the moving crate. I know this for fact, because right now I have everything off one of my renters vendors in my moving crate waiting for him to come pick it up. That's really the only thing you need to worry about, but it's advisable to try and spot to rent from someone you know and trust, or lacking that, find a known, trusted, established house on your shard.

The vendor's rent is drawn directly from your bank account. The only thing that you need to worry about supplying payment directly to the vendor for is it's daily fees. Rent is charged on a weekly basis, and will auto deduct from your account each time your contract is up for payment. It charges based on a week from the day you placed the vendor. So if you placed the vendor on a Wednesday, the rent will be taken every Wednesday.
