Using Magic Reflection

Morning guys and gals.

Training up a bush swordsman, quite a standard build... or will be if a pile of money ever lands in my lap - 120 bush/parry/swords, 100 heal/anat/tacts, 60 chiv - and again if that pile of money lands in my lap I want to use the following suit (bare in mind that I'm at this time looking to solo DFs and the like):

Mace and shield
Jackals
Heart of the Lion
Fey legs
Library melee tali
Storm grips
Resilient bracer
Ring of the Vile
Crafted arms

Before the crafted arms this would give me resists of 70/55/62/50/59.

Now my problem is my luck at finding stuff on my tamer/t-hunter has been poor at best. I don't really have money for kits to make items... so...

To try and achieve close to top resists I was considering some magery buff items in backpack (prob just a 15 spellbook and at least one more piece) cos I'm an elf so no JOAT, and then use Magic Reflection scroll

before the crafted arms that would then give me 62/65/70/60/69

thus, less need for top of the range arms - or more to the point if i find some nice stat/regen boosts, i cant take them knowing full well my resists are covered as the arms would only need to be 8/5/0/10/1-6

Anyone else do this?

Anyone else think this is ok?

Anyone have a negative side of that?

Cheers all,

-- Danny

I use magic reflection for exactly that reason, it can be very helpfull with certain suits, the only annoying thing is having to recast upon death but i carry scrolls which make it easy to recast!

Divster, thanks for responding.

Good to know others use it as well, think it will really help me try and balance the suits vs the rest.

Already know I'm gonna be behind on other things like stam etc, but like I said I'm not really aiming at the moment to be solo'ing the top bosses.

Characters gonna cost me enough as it is with the three 120 scrolls, jackals, mace and shield, ring of the vile, etc.

Do you know what level magery I'd need (keeping in mind I haven't got JOAT) to somewhat easily cast MR from a scroll?

Cheers,

with a 29 magery from jewels for example you would have a 50% chance to cast from a scroll scrolls work at 2 levels below what is required to cast so in this case from a scroll would be like casting 3rd level spell
also wwith a + 10 magery book and jewels you would have 75+ chanceto cast

Cool, so a +15 book and a jewel with as close to 15 as possible and I'll have a fair chance of casting it in one go, nice :)

Thanks for the info Storm

i used to have a suit that needed reflect, but it's better to just build around it.

You can get a horned kit that will make what you need for a couple hundred K. Horned kits give 4 mods and can give up to 100% intensities. Best not to rely on scrolls IMO.
