UOAM

Is there, or will there ever be, someone taking over the management of UOAM or will there perhaps be a new version? I would be willing to pay to have a copy!! I used to play years ago, but recently came back to find out that I can't even download a working program anymore?!?! I am in dire straights to be able to find where I am going and find my treasure maps etc!!

Unfortunately, the creator decided to be an ass, and not only wouldn't let anyone else continue it, he wouldn't let EA update it easier.

There have been a few unofficial edits to the program (that fixed it to show New Haven and the like), but those are in a grey area of legality for use, and aren't allowed to be distributed via Stratics. Similar hacks could conceivably be made to allow addition of the Stygian Abyss, but most likely at the cost of removing one of the other facets.

On the bright side, the new enhanced client has a lot of the detail of UOAM for its map, at least half the functionality, more if you create additional data files (for example, it should be easy, though a day or two's work, to create the Treasure Map files for the new client's map). And, I think the classic client is getting a map facelift as well.

So is there any other map that I can download to help me without having to use the 'Treasure Map location' map on Stratics whenever I am trying to find anything?

I am desperate to be able to know where I am again!!!

If you ask on the Treasure Hunters forum someone will probably be able to send you a copy of the program as it was, in its last legal form. Then, use a file editor to create a text file ending in the .map extension called treasure.map, and paste the map coordinates from the sticky post in the Treasure Hunter forum into it, and save it (make sure it does NOT pick up a ".txt" after the .map) in the map directory of your UOAM install. The locations in the sticky have been updated, and their names modified to show both THB and Goodman system numbers.
