What happened to the post about updated ML and New Haven .map files.
It was just posted this week I think and now it appears to be gone.

Any idea?
Anyone?

Hmm... it doesn't even show up on the search. Guessing all permissions were given properly. It's a good thing I patched it this morning!

Yep guys, we have removed them until we do indeed make 100% sure all is copesetic with us having them available.

Watch for updates, I'll post 'em as I get them.

Does this mean I'll get sued now for fixing my New Haven map on UOAM with the files that were hosted here

Nope, by the License Agreement, users may freely edit and distribute the .MAP files.

You are also permitted to copy and share any label collections (hereafter referred to as .MAP files) which you have created using UOAM.

Well, as far as copyright goes... unless EA gave him permission to create the program in the first place, he doesn't really have a valid copyright on it in the first place. Not to say that his wishes shouldn't be respected, but frankly, he's got zero recourse unless EA gave him a license for it.

UOAM is one of the programs on the UOPro list: http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=5383 <blockquote><hr>

QUESTION
What is UO Auto-Map?
Answer
UO Auto-Map (UOAM) is a full-featured mapping tool that allows you to keep track of people and places in Britannia. The UO Auto-Map web site for info and downloading is www.uoam.net/

This is a UOPro Application which means its use with UO is authorized by Origin Systems. We authorize a select few quality programs to use with UO. Those programs each have an article with details, and are as follows:

UOAssist: Website - Details
UO Auto-Map: Website - Details
UO Calculator: Website - Details
UO Curse Tool: Website - Details
UO Journal Converter: Website - Details
UO Magic Tool: Website - Details
UO Spawn Map: Website - Details

These products were created, and are marketed and distributed by individual authors under license from Origin Systems, Inc. ORIGIN SYSTEMS HAS NOT TESTED THESE PRODUCTS IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER AND DOES NOT KNOW WHETHER THEY WORK IN ANY OR ALL REASONABLY FORESEEABLE SITUATIONS OR THAT THEY WILL NOT CAUSE DAMAGE IN SOME REASONABLY FORESEEABLE SITUATIONS. The individual author solely warrants that these products will work as intended to your reasonable expectations, and does not infringe anyone?s intellectual property rights.

Origin Systems has not checked the source code for any of these programs. Origin Systems will not be held responsible for anything that should happen to your account or computer as a result of using these programs. Origin Systems does not support these programs. If you have problems with them, please contact the author of the program directly. Use at your own risk.

The bolded part should answer your concern here. I am no legal buff but that reads to me as "anyone" which would include EA's as well as the property rights of the creator's program.

Besides what has already been pointed out to you about it being UOPro, I suggest you look up US Copyright laws regarding items such as this. If the author of UOAM developed it on his own time, of his own thoughts, on his own system(s) in general it is his under copyright.

That means he was not at work and using the bosses system or whatever ... otherwise the copyright would belong to the company he worked for. I know this as I held some copyrights from prior employment (I thought them up, but worked on them after hours on their systems) because the company signed them over to me when I left - they're out of date now.
