UOA vs Classic Client target self/target last: which is better?

Both UO Assist and UO's classic client have target self and target last macros.

I'm curious which is better to use. I've run into a few issues with UOA's targetting where I can't target myself due to terrain. Funny how I can't see myself:party:

Leaving key bindings out of the equation, which is actually better?

UOA cause you can bind em to wheel

With UOA you can use range check option, so it won't shoot your spells if target is too far away, which is nice.

im finding with the UO macros for attack last target, they need to be re done alot, like i use Alt 3 for attack last, then it wont work, so i redo the macro and it works then some time later or even 10 mins later it wont work again so i have to re do it. V annoying whilst your pvping and trying to switch targets and it wont work :/

anyone have this issue?

also my switch weapon macro does the same ALOT.

I use both as they serve different purposes. I have Target Next & Last Target in UO on the keyboard, so I can change targets without clicking bars in PvP, this has to be done once before UOA will recognize the new 'last target'. Then I have Target Last & Target Self in UOA on the mouse wheel because its easier for the back and forth and for duelling etc.

On dexxers I have Target Next & Attack Last in UO on the keyboard (& no, funkymonkey, mine has never broke and I have it in roughly same place as you too - Alt 3 & Alt 4) and the same as above in UOA on mouse wheel which I have on all characters. Never had any issue with EquipLast either. (though I'm guessing you know being Disarmed will just equip/unequip one weapon)

I don't have Target Self in UO, but if I'm casting the sort of spells that give that message (usually fields) targeting your own bar first usually keeps the UOA Target Self working.

Lord God,
In order for the UO Assist last target to work, I have to use the UO last target in conjunction with the UO targeting system. Correct?

Only for the purpose of targeting while moving, or targeting someone thats moving too fast for you to grab their bar, like in clusters of people or if they're just too fast. I'm not saying its necessary for normal use if thats what you mean, most of the time grabbing a bar is the better option, just that... theres two ways to get UOA to recognize a 'last target', one is to target manually on them or their bar, the other involves using UO's macros first.

For example if (with a pre cast spell up) you:
Target Next (UO)
Last Target (UOA)
Either nothing will happen or it will target your previous target.

To successfully change target you have to:
Target Next (UO)
Last Target (UO)
Once, then after that Last Target (UOA) will recognize the new target and you can use UOA's Last Target from then on.

Writing it out like this makes it look more complicated than it is. Most PvP casters have UOA Self/Last on the mouse wheel anyway and this is just two extra macros.

If the EC could 'queue' and 'range check' targets they'd be exactly the same. I've not used range check much but queuing myself or queuing my last target has become too ingrained into my play style to live without it.

Agreed :D

Best way to use them is to combine them. Select nearest/prev/next is very useful, since it brings up the hp bar and sets your "last target" at the same time.

I don't use that, thats the new targeting system, I have that disabled. The old system is just 'next' (not 'next something') which cycles everything on one key so it can be used for xhealing or attacking.
