15 bux for a crappy product that works fine the majority of the time and doesn't risk getting your account banned seems a reasonable alternative to the illegal apps to me.

i'm happy with beer 99.99999999999% of the time. the .00000000000000001 is when i'm passed out. so where do i look for the sticky that was on the old stratics forum?

I think you have to wait til the .dll is changed by the guy that owns the program? From memory anyway (which is terribly bad at the best of times, and today isn't a best of times =P)
I had to pay $50 to reactivate my UOA account (Gold only knows why my account was turned off for years). Anyways, it took Tugsoft two weeks to forward me a copy of the .dll to fix the problem, but I finally got it. I'd redistribute it to you but I don't think I'm 'sposed to.

So.. I think I figured a way around having the .dll... I could be wrong, but it's working for me, so it's worth a try.
What I did was copied the file for my characters located in the Shard folder inside my UOAssist folder and pasted that copy directly into my account folder. So, to explain this.
The default path for UOAssist is C:\Program Files\UOAssist
In the UOAssist folder you'll see a folder named Download and one named UOA-Settings along with the .exe for UOA. Open UOA-Settings.
In this folder you'll see the name of your account (in my case, lostkitten) and the UOAssist-Globals Folder. Click on your account name.
In this folder you'll see a TC1 Pub 45 folder, and a shard folder (in my case, Catskills) If you've tried to use UOAssist since the update you may also see folders with your character names. Click on the shard folder.
From here you can select all of your characters or a specific character if that's all you need until an update is available. Highlight, right click and copy. Then go back (that would be to the folder that has the Shard and TC1 Pub 45 folders) and paste the character folder(s) inside your account folder.
