Searches for World of Warcrafthave dropped over time, albeit with more significant peaks.
Searches for Google have gone up over time.

Google will mark the death of WoW and UO!
Or something equally meaningless :p

I haven't found this very useful, many common terms trend sharply downward, try manufacturing, etc

It tells me that the dominent language of stratics is not the dominent language of people searching for info on UO - English isn't even in the top 10.

But when *I* search I search by "UO" and not "ultima online" like "UO spellweaving". Most sites will say UO.

Oh yeah... and I hate Google, I use Yahoo

Well, I think you can derive from these graphics how popular a game is. Check this, for example:

http://www.google.com/trends?q=ulti...craft,+lineage&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0

I don't want to discuss whether you like Google or not, or whether these graphics represent your own view of things. The Google trends are a good indicator of the popularity of a certain keyword (as most people still do use Google). I think what UO lacks, is a certain popularity. Most people don't even know what Ultima Online is. Nobody talks about it. It has almost no appearance in the press.

EA should really think about why that is like it is, and what can be done against that (if they want to save UO).

P.S.: If you are missing numbers on the y-axis: This is about trends, not about numbers.

My point was that, for whatever reason, almost every common word I google in this way shows a significant downward trend. hence, if most words point down it is difficult to put much meaning to uo going down.

Take a look at the word 'polymers' it goes down, but why? Why would most words go down? *shrugs*

But I do agree with your comments ref UO's popularity regardless. On the other hand, I don't mind the lack of overcrowding on cats I used to see.

you're not alone - although "UO" may refer to other things than just Ultima Online.

(wow, someone in Eugene really likes searching for UO ... oh right, University of Oregon)
Quack Quack Quack :p

I am an Unabashed Quacker Backer

Now for UO: The Pac 10, where we get craftable Trojan Armor, Bear, Duck, Beaver, Cat and Dog Costumes, And new Demon Armor. Oh and a Redwood Tree seed we can grow. (Let's see that covers USC, UCLA, UC-Berkley (Cal), Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Arizona, Arizona State and Stanford. That covers everybody!)

A Tree for Gardeners and Trojan Armor would at least be cool .......

Comparing the graph to what my wife says... if you google the same thing all the time you are bound to lose interest in it. I could be way off base here though.

I think the graph indicates that porn is still the most sought after thing on the internet.
