UO Patch and Assist Issues

It's been a few days since I've played, so needless to say I just now received the latest patches. However, no matter what I try, the patches always fail to "take" I've tried everything short of uninstalling and reinstalling UO. Is this really the last resort or am I missing something?

UO Assist is wiping all my macros for my toons. I tried following the advice in the FAQ, but when I check my folder there is nothing there at all? Anyone got any ideas on how to resolve these issues?
