2-3 months for one creature! A month for a pair of pants! That blew my mind. As did the bit about producing enough animation for twelve one hour tv shows.
Yea, it surprises a lot of people. It's the one thing that I've heard over and over again from new artists. "I thought that since this was a 2D game it would be a walk in the park, man, I had NO idea!"
We have to manage 2D and 3D assets which gives us all the technical and pipeline headaches of both video game and television projects. It's pretty amazing the sheer volume of artwork we generate and maintain. For example, in the High Seas booster, we generated more tile art than had been created in the all the years of UO previously.
