The thundering echoes of metal clashing against stone rose up again from the western walls, as yet another of the mechanical beasts managed to clamber its way out of the hole that led to their entombed shrine to do battle with the Gargish defenders. Alone the creatures were not a lethal threat, but any mistake would lead to injuries, and the gargoyles could not replenish their forces as the machines did. Add to that the defecting gargoyles that joined the twisted and insane controllers inside the mechanized temple to a long dormant deity, and Ver Lor Reg sat on a precarious perch. And though the sounds of valorous physical battle carried from the site, a far different but decidedly no less heated battle took place inside their council chambers.
“To say we have dealt with the creatures of this land since Ver Lor Reg was created and we have never once faltered. To think that this is an unconquerable force is unworthy of our people. To say that we should accept the offer of Zhah…is unbecoming.”
A rustling of leathery wings showed the gargoyles’ displeasure at the tone struck by Vis-Lem. “Zhah’s offer of refuge and treatise is favorable and generous; Driven by worry of losing some of your power, Vis-Lem?”
Vis-Lem bared his teeth for a moment at Res-Vor. “To say that establishing Ver Lor Reg was a monumental accomplishment is an understatement; The machines are threatening, but the influx of visitors is helping businesses…”
An-Rel-Tar raised a clawed hand for a moment for silence, and everyone ceased. It had been some time since they had heard the aged gargoyle speak. Clearing his throat for a moment, he stood and gestured to the other gargoyles at the stone table. “The elves…humans…and even fellow gargoyles are straining our resources. There is only so much the land and our mages can provide, and with central Ilshenar sealed so have a plethora of our resources been sealed beyond our reach. The gold is good, yes…but of what use is it when the Britannians suffer from raiders in their own cities and caravans are scarce? Think on it long and hard, my friends…It is no easy decision to make. We stand at a precipice, and must make sure we do not plunge off of it.”
As An-Rel-Tar finished, he turned to walk out and the other gargoyles knew that regardless of whether or not they had anything else to say, for now at least, this meeting was finished.
San-Lem had spent several years as a healer here in Ver Lor Reg, and before that she’d wandered through the wilds of Ilshenar, and it was a testament to her ability to recognize danger and steer clear of it that she’d survived as long as she had. The recent skirmishes in the city had set her and many others nerves on edge regarding the current situation, and the heavy traffic through the area didn’t help. Change begets change, she thought…and change was often a violent and destructive process. She’d made up her mind some weeks ago, and had only just now finished her preparations, trading what coin she had for rations and supplies. It ached within her to think of no longer being able to feel the touch of cool marble beneath her clawed feet, but she’d already made up her mind.
As she passed through the gates of the cities and headed between the great marble pillars that marked where they had conquered the deserts of Ilshenar, she took one last look at the city before drawing her wings around her. She turned and headed north, passing a small group of humans with some sort of tool she’d never seen before. They were taking great scoops of the desert up and shaking loose the sand, finding rocks and bits of stone and marble from the initial constructions. Shaking her head she walked on, thinking that she’d never understand the humans no matter how many generations of their people she lived through.

Looks like exodus is going to be coming soon. Looks like we all better get ready.
Hey Mirt... I've not kept up with this. What should I have done by now to be ready?

Me I am stocking up on bandages and potions. Exodus is a big bad baddie. The way I see it exodus minions are going to be running around and the force fields might come back. Blackrock might help get through these fields but I am not sure. It should be interesting in Ilsh.

Completed 1 - Took 10 fragments

Looks like as was speculated when this was found in the patch notes way back, this is a way to get the same items as the ones from the Grave Robbers - Except with no timer.

** Just to add, this took me a little more than an hour to complete 1 item

The desert scorpian [paragon] drops a chest as I obtained one earlier off of one and it comes with a Ingeniously drawn map. It does take about 1 hour to reconstruct an heirloom, I reconstructed the jukan vase. Good Luck! Happy Hunting!

"entombed shrine, the mechanized temple" that's the now blocked off place South of the city?
Why is it entombed? Just more 'rock-slides'? (The rock slides were planned, as in cutting off the city's resource paths)
They can't get out, but they can make it across the city and out of the side of a mountain?
remember, I have brain damage (irl), can someone help me make sense of this please?

Well it didn't take long..the griefers have arrived, at least on chessy. I was there with others just doing "our thing" (won't spoil) when a group came in and started throwing evs at everyones (?) and grabbing what's there. Everyone has their own play style, I guess, but it's not mine so I left and will try another time.

Well then I'm confused. The item you mentioned in your "hide" is what I found on the corpse. Maybe you could do another Hide and explain it in more detail, when u have the chance. As far as the group that was out there they too thought what we were looking for was on the body. So I guess the laughs on them. And me too. ha

Crowen found a treasure chest from one of the paragon bloodworms in Europa (which we thought it would be a great rare if not for the event), other than that, we killed lots of those monsters (thanks to Minerva Foxglove, owner of the New Player House) but couldn't find anything valuable. I previously killed a lot of bloodworms and rotworms in the underworld dungeon (thought that's how you get a spined bloodworm bracers until someone reported that it actually drops from the ancient lich renowned) and I think the "desert" versions of these monsters have the more or less the same loot as the regular underworld ones have. So I don't think summons will hurt, in fact they might help a lot.

Is that equipable? I know the first ones weren't.

I'm so glad I held back this morning, I was going to rant about how this last arc had been up for 20 days without new content. Was getting tired of coming to Stratics only read "I quit" and "UO is great" counterpoints! This is the part of the arc I really wanted to do and
10 items per a real item, even if it's random, isn't that bad of a grind IMO. Yay.

Okay, I jumped the gun. Two major complaints to consider for future events:

1) Move the NPC into Vel Lor Reg. People are farming sifting trays and killing spawn right next to the NPC. What happens is you basically have to use object handles just to be able to drop gold on the NPC because you can't see him between dragons, creatures, and their dead corpse object handles.

2) Give us more desert regions in Ilsh to farm. The desert area is way too small for comfort on mildly populated shards.

Question was can you turn them in like the grave robbery ones
Just what I was about to ask?

Sounds like more fun than repeatedly killing the robbers.
Indeed you can turn them in, they give 50 points and this totaly bypasses the super tough to get blood sample.
Just a lot faster with the graverobbers.

Since these are mainly SA creatures, with regular SA loot I would venture to suggest that what you found on the corpse was an ancient pottery fragment as required in Axem's quest 'A Broken Vase'

Anyone notice a different "drop" rate of the parts to put together if you wear luck suits? I didnt...
i was also wondering this. Was hoping it might be so as my drop rate sucked with the character i was using.

The drop rate is god-awful... The cool-down is annoying... The mobs are boring (though I sorta like the scorpion)...

Who thought a click-fest with paragons would be "fun?"
