[UO Herald] Sonoma vs. Catskills in the Cross-Shard Treasure Hunting Challenge!

Have you read about the challenge that Catskill declared and Sonoma accected? We are bout to find out, how it will evolve.



In this corner we have the defending champions, Sonoma, and their champions – The Pink Elephants! This group of superlative Sonomans consists of: Hera “The Terrah”, Angel “Won’t Sit in the Corner” Baby, “Nifty” Swifty, Wonder “Braggin’” Dragon and Alice “Acting With Malice”!

In the opposing corner, the carapaced challengers of Catskills, the Blue Beetles! These azure adventurers are led by the King of Cartography, the Sultan of the Shovel, the Monarch of the Map – Dr. Sucio! They are Llewen “Fightin’” Faerlyght, “Don’t Call Me Dave” Haslehoff, “Dangerous Darlin’” Arwen, and the Pint-Sized Prince of Panty Purloining, Underpants Gnome!

This contest will take place on Saturday (9/17) at 6 pm PST / 9 pm EST on the Test Center shard.

The Challenge is being held at “The Chessboard” venue on the beautiful sand-swept island of Nujel’m. Admission is free, so come cheer on your favorite team! Will Sonoma stomp out the challengers to retain their title, or will those burrowing bugs of Catskills dig deep for the win? Find out on Saturday at “The Chessboard”!

I just want to throw in my two sense. I do not take nothing from the Catskills players, they were amazing and we did have fun with them. What I will say is it was completely a mess and it should have been stopped and postponed until the kinks were worked out. Sonoma (my team) was given the first map AFTER the blue team had already left with their first map (almost 2 minutes after). They said go go go go go and we kept saying we do not have a map. We kept saying that we should start over that was not fair and they called us whiners. So we said we would suck it up and catch up. They had an issue with someone following them and interfering, and they stopped the match when we had one item left in a lvl 5 map. We had to redo a lvl 5 map due to the match being stopped and Mesanna being called in. On our level 6 and level 7 map, we had issues with our EM follower standing beside the chest and having problems pulling things out, we asked him/her to move multiple times and he/she never did. I know my Sonoma team worked hard, we had practiced on test for 2 weeks almost every other day. Our times were under 40 mins for 1-7 maps, with interruptions with our kids, etc. This event took almost 2 hours due to all the problems that were encountered. Good luck to Napa and Catskills if you guys are the two shards that participate next month, hopefully the EMs try some test runs with some groups to try to work out some kinks beforehand. I was on one of the Sonoma teams a year ago and it was a blast, maybe EM Dudley (if he is still around) can give some pointers on how it went so smoothly last year!!!

The spectators had an idea of some of the problems but we were not aware of all the problems. Hopefully your team and the Catskills team can provide some feedback and recommendations to the EMs so future teams dont have to go through what you did.

Regardless, I, for one. am proud of the Pink Elephants!! Despite what I am sure was a very frustrating situation, you persevered and fought to the very end! WOOT!!
