The authorities want you to know:
If you placed your boat near the place Blackthorn's old castle was standing, please remove it before tomorrow, Wednesday July 11th, at midnight EDT. If your boat isn't removed, it might get buried and destroyed in some landscaping works that are about to happen in that area.

I still don't get the English isn't their first language thing.
Last I knew the guy that puts stuff on The Herald (Kai) spoke German and had to run everything through a translating program (Google translator I think it was) so on occasion some words get goofed a little. No biggie *shrugs*

Kai does extremely well, and far better at getting things in English than I would be getting them into German - but in the past, rather a lot of stuff on the Herald was done by supposedly native English speakers and was still incomprehensible at times..... ;)

We have a number of people for whom English isn't their first language, because, in their native language 't' and 'd' are very similar sounds they will talk about a 'threat' when they mean a 'thread'. We don't correct them on it, we simply allow for the language difference. Similarly 'f' and 'v'.

How often have you seen on TV someone hamming up a German accent by saying 'Ve haf der bier' or similar?
have and haf - save and safe.

I agree. I have been speaking English from the time I could babble and on most days I only have a slight working knowledge of it :gee:

Everything got fixed before I got here and I reread the post quite a few times before I gave up trying to figure out what was wrong. LOL

I think the joke was that the Herald isn't actually a person so it doesn't have a first language.
Wow people are taking some stuff entirely too seriously.
*bangs head on desk*
I'm going to have a concussion soon...

It was no joke. The man typing this stuff because he cares does not have English mastered. How many of you that call English the primary or only language you speak have mastered it?

Ve haf der bier
But honestly, I have never heard one of my fellow Germans saying anything like this...

Correct form would be: "Ve haf de bier" But why should anybody say: "We have the beer"? Wouldn´t it be better to say: "We wanna have a beer"? In this case you must write: "Ve wanna haf e bier"! :pint:

As a guildmate pointed out, "Safe Your Boats" is possibly correct in Olde English.

Hmm, English, German... doesn't matter, we speak UO here! ;)

But please, Developers, when you do your new landscaping, please take a close look on every shard, because on Drachenfels we have Casca's Grave in Lord Blackthorn's garden - I hope it won't get destroyed in that process!

If they do remove the grave, you should get a ghost of Casca on that spot.
