We have received a lot of feedback on getting a “head start” on the download for Open Beta. This is a lot easier than you think it is. If you are currently using the Enhanced client there should just be a small patch later on today and you are done! Yes we said done! If you haven’t tried the Enhanced client this is your opportunity to start patching today. This way you will be ready to play when we unlock Retribution for Open Beta.


If you wish to use the Classic Client, an updated installer, it will not be ready until tomorrow. This is a special installer that will allow access to Retribution.

Yes all testing will occur on Retribution.

Chrissay any idea how long it will take for someone who unfortunately is stuck on dial up to install the the classic client download for beta? I just want to make sure its not going to take me a week to download it cause if so wont be worth the time downloading just for beta..lol

It should be just shy of a gig. So if you are on dial up you could set it up for over night while you are asleep. However, like I mentioned on the Herald you could patch up the enhanced client and be ready to go by tomorrow night.

It's been a while so my math may be a bit rusty but I think a gigabyte would take somewhere in the range of 40 hours to download on a solid 56k connection... (so maybe more like a few nights)

Indeed, the New client took 8 hours to download on a 4mb connection (hangs for hours when it reaches 92%) so dial-up i wouldnt like to say.
Although good news for you is if the connection breaks the patcher will 'remember' where you were. Not if you turn the computer off though.

Same here... but then again I'm not on dial-up. I feel very sorry for those who are!
