Parle vu francais! Spreken ze deutsch?

We're looking for some talented bi-lingual Customer Support Representatives to join the team here at Mythic. If you or someone you know have a passion for MMO's and are fluent in English and French or German then we look forward to hearing from you!

Position Information:

EA is dedicated in ensuring ultimate customer support & satisfaction. Customer Support representatives are the first point of contact for online players, with one common goal: To provide the best customer service possible, while still maintaining a fun, playable environment for everyone. We achieve our goals each month by dividing and prioritizing our workload, seeking feedback from our customers, and communicating with other departments within the company. Customer Support is made up of two main divisions, In-Game Support, which handles all appeals entered in game, and our Call Center, which handles technical and billing support via email and telephone.

Role Overview

***CANDIDATE MUST SPEAK GERMAN and/or FRENCH***
***LOCAL VA CANDIDATES ONLY***

Customer Service Representatives are responsible for front line contact of players in-game. They assist players with character, inventory and quest issues, as well as gathering information for the QA department. Teamwork, professional attitude and strong communication skills are key in this role. A flexible schedule (openness to night, weekend & holiday shift schedules) is a must. Key responsibilities include: contacting players in a friendly, professional manner; gathering in-game data for player, quest and monster issues; provide accurate information for both the CS Lead and the QA department

What skills does EA look for?

An EA Customer Service Representative normally can demonstrate: experience in the field of Customer Service; general knowledge of MMO Gameplay; excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; good organizational skills, ability to remain focused. NB Customer Service is a 24/7 operation, so a flexible schedule with openness to night, weekend & holiday shift schedules is a must. Candidate must be able to read, write and speak fluent German and/or French.

lol exactly... then why is it that half of the customer service reps don't not only know what game they're representing, but they don't know what an mmo is either

You should hire someone who knows the games too. Maybe then we can get some real help. Right now the customer service representatives are lost 99% of the time, in game and out.

Hm, assuming that they don't have anyone over there who actually speaks fluent French/German, makes me wonder if people could just wing it :D

There's already a fairly large bi-lingual (actually tri-lingual) community in the Fairfax (well, Arlington, but close enough) area, at least as far as French speakers go. I don't know what the odds are of EA attracting any attention from the Vietnamese community, though.

There's also a fairly large German/Germanic population in the North Baltimore area - but again, not entirely sure how much interest the ads would generate from there.

In either case, the pay rate would need to be fairly high - with the push having been so hard for the language du jour being Spanish, French and German have been pushed pretty far on the back burner in the education system.

Maybe this is the reason why GM responses and Customer Service responses from EA/Mythic always seem to get poor feedback. All GM/Customer Service requests are being madein english, and at EA/Mythic, GMs and Custoemr Service Reps only speak German/French.

Just Kidding.

Hmmm. Wonders when they are going to post opening for Klingon or Na'vi. :)

But if they ever need a customer support rep from ancient Rome, you're all set!

Roflmao...

I wish I'd paid more attention in my HS french classes :( It'd be nice if I remembered anything of value... Then again, I don't think that asking where the restroom is and how much a glass of beer costs would do me much good for this job. rolleyes::lol:

Based on "Parle vu francais! Spreken ze deutsch? " that's their current approach! ;)

Also, das die nur Leute für VA suchen ist schon ein wenig komisch. Haben die schon mal von der Erfindung des Internets gehört?

War schon immer mein Traum dafür bezahlt zu werden unfreundlich, inkompetent und überflüssig zu sein.

(I´m a bit surprised that they only look for people in VA. Have they ever heard of the invention of the internet?

It has always been a dream of mine to get paid for being unfriendly, incompetent and redundant)

Yes, I´m German, sue me :D

With the currently reported financials, I hope this new hire realizes it will be a part-time position. :(

This game is too small and too personal for it to be a good idea to hire players as staff, especially staff who will get to know our real names, real addresses, account names, etc.

Bad Bad Bad Bad Idea.

For example if the guy on Pac who said if he knew where I lived in real life he would come and kill me, can speak French, and he gets this job and I need to call customer support for something, then I guess I guess I better start writing my will?

Or perhaps the guy from Drachenfelds who I KNOW can speak German who was on Pac selling exploit "birds" and "fishing weights" and accidentally handed me a pack llama loaded with checks and a novo blue set (approx 60 mill or $60) when he was getting ready to transfer to Atlantic, perhaps he will be hired and find himself in a position with access to my accounts and can recoup that $60 (plus some) that he lost that night? (No I didn't give the packy back)

I would like to know what safeguards are in place to assure that once Mythic hires this/these 'dreg(s) of society', that our accounts and our lives will be protected.

I was thinking yesterday that we've gone a while with no general UO news, I was happy to see some today until I read it... I don't really think this belongs in UO general news...

edit: I understand it says "official" news, but I just think this belongs somewhere else.

especially when the official notice says -

They assist players with character, inventory and quest issues
which is something as rare as a blue moon when it comes to anything UO related.
