[UO Herald] Character Copy Has Gone Live

Greetings!

The character copy feature has gone live! This feature will allow you make a copy of your character from any shard that supports transfers to “Test Center 1”. There may be periods of time where this feature will not be enabled due to differences in server versions.

To start a character copy, login with the character you wish to copy and go to a safe logout location such as an inn. Open the help menu and select the “Character Copy” option. Follow the instructions to complete your character copy.

Does the copy include the items they have equip? I'd hope so otherwise this is kind of pointless.

The copying is for testing of the arena's right? So they're working now I take it or....?

Yup, bank, pack, stables and equipped items. Just like an x-fer token.

Ahh a heads up i did a char transfer about an hour ago and it all seemed to have gone good until I logged that same char back in on my home shard and his spell book is gone!
not sure what else I had his pack full still looking to see...

It's free, It allows you to copy a character on a production shard to TC so you can get straight into testing without needing to build a suit etc.

Had the same problem... logged out and in and it was in my pack again, but dyed a different color =/

I tried that and restarted the client and its gone hope maybe 2moro sever up it will be back. I pmed the devs maybe they can fix it.

BEWARE: BUG EATS YOUR SPELLBOOK!!!

I used char copy today and it ate my scrappers compendium. Even though it is obvious that I had it right before the copy because the copy on TC has my scrappers in his hand but my char on Pacific lost his and they are of course going to do absolutely nothing about it because it is UO.

check your pack again.. I had to log out and in and it was dyed a completely different color so i skipped it once when I logged back in

Remeber your testing this, so dont go shifting your char over with his best PvP gear just yet!

Maybe once its been tested and bugs fixed...in lets say 2 years time, it may be working smothly.

Wow, such negativity... At least they ARE trying to improve the game. I (for one) always assume that they are doing the best they can with what they are given... It's programming folks, and it's almost never perfect the first time around... That's just human...

I always think the company apologists have never played another MMO. Reaaaaaally gives you some perspective on customer service and the update process if you stick around long enough to test them. Were this one of the modern "big" mmo's out now, this **** would bury them.

Fortunately there are thousands (hundreds?) of players willing to fork money over for mediocrity.

Guess I'm one of them too, but y'know what I mean.

Ya that's a pretty hilarious sig.

Well the thing is that the game itself isn't mediocre. The customer support is horrible, the graphics are extremely dated, in either client, the attention to bugs and crashes is horrible, but the game itself is amazing. I think it's the best MMO on the market in terms of the game itself. It would just be nice if it were properly supported by it's publisher.

edit: And by "properly supported" I mean it needs a larger dedicated dev team, and it needs a healthy marketing budget in the hands of a trained, competent marketing professional.

Have the issues with losing items been resolved? I am considering copying my crafter to check out some of the changes, but don't want to lose any talismans, bods, etc. How hard is it to find your stuff on TC 1? I've not really messed with the TC much.

Character copy is working fine now. Just remember to put everything on your character or in your character's bank that you want copied over to TC.
