[UO Herald] Bug Fixes for Test Center and Origin

[UO News]

Greetings,

We are updating Test Center today. You can find the list of bug fixes below:

• Mannequin can no longer be placed outside of a home.
• Increased the point value for the Item bless deed
• Changed the name of the item bless deed to bless deed to preserve the rare factor of the original one.
• The Cornucopia will now give points as it should.
• Removed the cooking bonus from the full Fisherman’s set.
• Fixed an exploit with placing Clean up Britannia items in the trash can.

Please note: If you put female gargoyle cloth armor onto a male gargoyle you cannot remove it via the paperdoll. You can remove it by changing the race/gender. This is a classic client bug that will be fixed in the future.



We plan to publish these changes on Origin tomorrow, Wednesday 09/14. We are going to be bringing down Origin at 11am EDT (3pm UTC).

Would it be possible to get clarification on which of the reward items will be blessed on Siege and Mugen and whether or not the bless deed will be available on those shards? And would it be that difficult for someone on the team to please provide a list of the rewards and the turn-in items as part of an official set of publish notes? It's pretty pathetic that we have to rely on players to gather this information when publish notes in the past for this type of event actually included most, if not all, of this information. I mean, what exactly are we paying $12.99 per month for anymore? Sometimes I feel like I should be paying a good chunk of it to other players, as they do a far better job of passing along information than EA does lately.

I do love the manequin option to switch cloths from yourself onto it...thats just wild..

I did notice that the durability on scout and scorcerer set is 100 only and the other suits 125?
Is this supposed to be like this?

Once upon a time, when the first Clean Up event happened, I wanted an Item Bless Deed to bless my then-new Indestructible, Supremely Accurate War Mace of Vanquishing (yes, tops in all mods), but these days, outside of a couple of items which I have used my Personal Bless Deed, I really can't think of anything I need to permanently bless. Any combat equipment will get swapped out in time anyway, or will wear out due to being imbued, new ideas or items will come along, etc.

And even if I'm doing something where death is a possibility, I'm usually dragging in well more than enough in gold to cover the insurance costs.

Not sure I see what the huge uproar over the bless deed is.

By the same token, is it a bit ironic that they're changing the name to preserve the rarity of the (heavily duped) original?

I have yet to create a gargoyle, I did make one but started in New Haven, I thought they were supposed to start in Ter Mur so I never even did anything with it, I was sort of let down lol.

Guess I'll be doing alot of testing tomorrow.

100k is too much for the bless deed now IMO. Insurance per each item is so cheap that you would need to die thousands and thousands of times for a bless deed to be worth it.

Oh yes, had to give in to the rares crowd, be a pity all them duped "rare" Item Blessed Deeds be devalued (very small few might be still real, but the majority... well, we all know). 65 to 75k per deed would of been good, but 100k points is a little ridiculous to say the least. Stop & figure the per deaths even at the max of 600gp a pop......

Let me say I am less than impressed.

For one - they need to fix other point values.

The one I'm most frustrated with is the rat coins - it gives same amount for Bronze, Silver, Gold.

The rarity of these is 1-1, 10-1 and 50-1 respectively. It was MUCH MUCH harder to get gold coins as they spawned much less. To give the same amount of points for them is plain stupid. I've reported in 2 threads.

It would be equivalent to giving the same points for a 105 scroll as a 120 scroll.


The manequin is still a fail in my book since you can't click it and see the armor's total stats. That would actually make it useful to a crafter. Thanks for providing us a vendor that doesn't sell anything basically.

The rat coins WERE scaled in the Spring Cleaning (the first time you could turn them in), I guess they figured people kept a set or two (I kept 3 sets personally, and have no plans for turning them in) instead of by rarity.

The weird thing is that I thought I remember the gold sovereigns being worth quite a bit more and the coppers quite a bit less than the value used...

Yep, seems to be the case:

Spring Cleaning (2008):

Copper Shilling: 100
Silver Crown: 500
Gold Sovereign: 10,000

Cleanup (2011):

Copper Shilling: 2500
Silver Crown: 2500
Gold Sovereign: 2500


So hindsight and everything, a collector would have been better off turning in the gold in 08 and the silver and copper now.

Either way, I stocked a sizable hoard of the coins when the event was active and turned them all in but 3 sets of each in 08 and am holding onto those 3 sets.

This 2011 spring cleaning, everyone can turn gold for points AND tons of items for 8k points or more. The new suits now costs 300.000 and the replicas of the old suits are only 60.000 points.

In my opinion, the big mistake on this new spring cleaning is the possibility to buy points using gold. That means EA is dictating the market price on the spring cleaning rewards.
I hope the devs add some new cool items (just deco, please no more useless suits) for 100.000, 200.000 or more points because otherwise, I (and many others) will end filling *atleast* 3 boxes of 125 item bless deeds each, just by turning some crap.

well its a 10 million gold if you were to use gold to get one. And that is the biggest mistake of this cleanup. DO NOT USE GOLD

remember they did an easy quest for each and every char to get a 25k ticket...thi is why there were many many many 600k point suits

Except back then we didnt have insurance so the IBD's were like WOW a way to keep that special peice of kit away from the reds.

Now we have insurance so the usefullness of the IBD's are no-where near as amazing as they were back then. I also think 10mil for them is being a bit silly. I'ld estimate that they'll be around 20-25 considering that they now cost 100,000 points, which if you actually look at it is quite difficult to get considering that blue essences are the most valuable (25k points per) but they are also not exactly common now.

Now forward on from that.. They have renamed them to just bless deeds so those who have kept the older IDB's will still have that rarity value. So even if the new Bless Deeds are 10mil... so what? Its a bargin and whoever is selling it at that price is a fool. My money will be on the suits tbh.

Lame attempt to blame it on trammies. In '99 my 7x7 small brick house had more items inside then you can put into a castle nowadays. It is obvious that ever since we have a lockdown limit (+ house/account limit) the casual player has alot less items to toss away ... hence why it takes less points.

Its called test centre...they posted they were going to increase it on forum here .

The term really has no meaning at this point. And that is if it ever did.

10 million in gold, 5 million in gold. Whats the point. Gold is endless. So you spend 50 million on deeds. Its not like you wont get items to sell later for gold.

I find it a good source of gold drain personally. Values of items like IBD's dont really mean much to most people, and tbh its nice that its available to more people as a whole. The old ones are still 'rare' just havent got some stupid price tag on it.

They have been doing this for a long time.
Britain Library Collection.....Gold: 15 for 1 point
Vesper Museum Collection..Gold: 15 for 1 point
Brit Clean-up 2011............Gold: 100 for 1 point

are you serious? I am a rare collector and own one of the rare item bless deeds, it didn't bother me at all that they made these a spring cleanup item with the same name as the original one, fact of the matter is the ones that exist right now are severely duped beyond belief, i knew people that had hundreds of them in their banks selling them for like 30-50 mil each it was ridiculous

secondly, bless deeds don't even have a use anymore, they were awesome before insurance came out, i mean it costs like 10 gold to insure jewelry, whats the point of blessing my ornament of the magi, there is nothing to even use a bless deed on aside from doom artifacts, library glasses and a few other arties

thirdly 100k points is peanuts, i wish it like 500k-1 million points, i mean i have a bag of 103 ask and answer crystal balls that are worth 15k pts each.... i have 101 of the blue crystals from halloween a while back at 25k pts each... thats like 4 million points from 2 types of things out of the millions of different things i have to turn in

also I'm not too fond of gold as a turnin, but I guess it'll get rid of some of the abundance of gold in the game, good use of a gold sink but it makes the spring items worth not as much as they could have been

The new suits are 4 part/50k per, so only 200k total. But they are non PoFable and will wear out. Especially the Bestial kit, which relys on getting beat down to work. Else why use it?

Really? I am a rares collector and most of the us said nothing. Its sad though, this means you only get 50 deeds instead of 100...and its all because of.......
