[UO News]

Bonnie ‘Mesanna’ Armstrong has become the Producer for Ultima Online. Together with Jeff Skalski, who continues his role as Ultima Franchise Producer, she will now take an even more active lead of all topics around our longest running MMO. Bonnie’s drive, dedication and knowledge of UO, together with her motivation to kill players (in-game) are well known in the office and among players.
Of course this raises some questions about the directions Bonnie is going to take, questions you might ask on the boards. Apart from a “Yeah yeah yeah” song we weren’t able to get an initial statement yet – but we shall have one in the near future.
Congratulations, Bonnie. Let’s lead UO trough an exciting 15th anniversary and into the future.

In 6 months time after corporate approves and releases a generic vague non committal non descriptive letter that could be summed up by posting that pic of the a pig with pinwheels using a zip line while shouting Wheeeeee! Wh Wh Wheeeee! To me it confirms Jeff doesnt have time to actually work ON uo. Another corporate choice that lacked vision. I hope Messana can deal with the inevitable frustrations to come. I'm not apologetic for reflecting this negative view point as I continue this bizzare relationship. It's just a lil S&M people. If it offends you look the other way and consult your bible.

There's been a lot of dev criticism as of late as players perhaps forget about what used to make UO great, like GMs who would show up in game. Mesanna was always there in-game to fix anything that happened, whether it was a dragon deletion on Chesapeake (or a few other shards) or to help check the Blackrock Golems on Origin, or something more fun like Mesanna Roulette. Here's to hoping the rest of the devs/engineers will follow suit, and give us a more active in-game and forum.

Nice that they finally gave her the title since she's the one that's been doing the job for quite some time now. That was obvious back when Cal was the "producer" (read: figurehead).
Hopefully this gives her even more authority and she can make some positive changes to the game.

It would be nice to have a producer lay out a direction for UO. Cal laid one out last year that focused on new players, and most of it was scrapped. Here's hoping that we get something more solid from Mesanna.

I really hope she decides to grow UO, because UO needs players more than anything else right now.

The good news is that she was around back in the days of LBR and AOS, she knows how many players UO used to have. She knows UO still has potential.
