Account Center Migration: Update

First, I want to thank all of you for your patience during this migration. Our operations team as well as Customer Support, and the game team have been working hard to make certain the migration goes smoothly.

In order to allow those accounts which may have gone inactive during this time to return to play UO, we have enabled the Return to Britannia login process. This will allow inactive and non-banned accounts to enter the game and play.

Also, we have put backend processes in place that will keep houses from also going inactive.

We have placed a thread (here) for anyone who has questions regarding the migration not answered in the FAQ. Once the account center is live, it will also be a place to update you about the account migration.

Important note: DO NOT post password or user account information on the forums!

One final note on the account center migration: If you have purchased gametime, expansions, or boosters in the last few days please do not make an attempt to apply them.

Once the account center is moved, and user data validated, game servers may come down for an extended period of time to confirm logins and gamecodes work correctly in the production environment. Our goal is to keep gameplay interruption to a minimum. We will keep you updated as this time approaches.

Okay I haven't called customer service yet but I did send an e-mail.

According to this, all accounts can be logged in except for those that were banned.

I know for a FACT that my secondary account was never compromised, banned or even flagged for behaviour or anything else.

I WAS planning on re-activating that account when acct management migration was complete, but if there is an issue with it I'd like to know now.

IF I call Origin, which I haven't done only because I can't remember the e-mail address I used for that account...will they be able to tell me what the issue is?

I have NEVER done anything wrong on this game, so I can't fathom why it would be banned, and since the WBtB log in is enabled I should be able to log into it.

UPDATE: I just got off the phone with Origin. They can't check to see what's wrong with my account, but the gentleman I spoke with said that even though the WBtB log in is enabled, there are still some people who can't log into old accounts due to the migration process.

So again I will ask, is there ANYONE that has been unable to log into an inactive account? I'm hesitant now to re-activate once migration is complete only to find out there is an issue.

I do have one question.... perhaps I am not understanding this clearly.

Does this mean ALL Account Timers are reset? As in as of the end of this "free time" The house/account timers are set to the 90 days ? I am a bit confused as in past when the "Return to Brit" was in effect accounts did not reset the timer for decay, and accounts that were aproching the end of the 90 day grace still fell on time.

I believe there were problems in the previous Return to Brit campaigns where houses built by unpaid accounts did not decay. The question then becomes whether they are just stopping the same thing happening to ones built during this period, or whether it will actually affect the ones from the past. Hopefully the latter, but I am guessing not.

I hope not - I enjoy the extra storage and houses on other shards.

If they do shut these down you will REALLY see UO empty. By a factor of 50-60% less houses.

It will basically devalue all houses outside of Luna to zero.

I don't think they should fix it until housing space is needed. I enjoy playing several shards but don't want to pay for 7 accounts to play those shards.

It should be 1 house/account/shard with a max of 5. That would be the way to go so you can play 5 shards effectively.

Don't worry - if the houses go into decay - I'll scoop up all my stuff but you'll be left with more and more empty lands....

Less houses doesn't not equal less people....this way if they DO decay it will give us a better view of how many people there actually are, which is GOOD!

Take Origin for example...there are at LEAST 16 houses owned by Tyrant...I have a full runebook and was working on a second.

Now...take that information and transfer it to a more populated shard...lets use Atlantic since I chose that as my second home.

It is almost impossible to find a house plot there. I found several IDOCS and could have placed had my house placement timer been up but of course the spots were taken before then.

But buying a house/plot on Atlantic requires millions of gold...and I'd bet that alot of spots are on accounts that are no longer active.

Having those houses fall would give REAL PAYING CUSTOMERS a chance to place a house where they want.

I'm all for those inactive acct houses falling.

No, house timers are never reset during the Return to Britannia promotions.

What I think is funny is that people think there is a 'house timer'. There is no timer on the houses.

A script runs every day to look at accts that went inactive 90 days ago. Then it marks the house for decay. There is no inherent 'timer'. That is why houses slip through the cracks. Imagine a revert or a script not running that day. Houses missed and those accounts will never be exactly 90 days since activity.


There are only 1 or 2 shards where housing is an issue. Great Lakes is one of the most populated shards and you can plunk down an 18x18 at a dozen or more places (I know I placed 2 more this week).

On other less populated shards you can plunk down castles and keeps. Inactive account houses are not an issue.

Frankly I don't think the dev team wants to address this or you would see that some shards have less than 100 active players...

You'll walk for hours and not see a house.

so you got lucky and exploited a bug in the code, now are trying to protect houses you shouldnt have over us that play multi shards and pay once in awhile for those houses!!!!! on other than main shard!

Yes they are. They're blocking people who are actually PAYING and still PLAYING the game from upgrading their houses. Who cares if the game looks empty, IT IS EMPTY. Let the housing reflect the population reality and let those who choose to still pay and play live in the Castles they wait years to upgrade to.

If you really want one - go to a diff shard where you can place one.

I pay for my 2 accounts. Just not more than that....

Housing is NOT limited. I just dropped an 18x18 on Sonoma steps from the luna walls. Ghost town!

Thats ok Theo you must be the new neighbor of mine.. I too dropped in a house this week ... a castle on origin. They are not an ugly building, with a little touch of a skilled decorator its a great home.

I second that. If you aren't paying for your account your house should DROP. People who PAY shouldn't be restricted for placing houses on their home shard just because a few people want the illusion of a populated shard.
