I was Sooo expecting the rest of the Shadow-guard artifacts to allow Powder of Fortification to be applied to them, specifically the Enchantress' Cameo... :sad2:

Although, the rest of the patch notes sound great, are there going to be any additional updates following next week?

I didn't see spellplague regarding apples listed in the notes anywhere, however I'll be checking TC1 in a few moments (maybe I should've done that first...)
either way, the update sounds good so far. good job!

@Kyronix @Bleak Any update to the situation with mortal attack? An apple on a 30-45 second timer (even as it is now on the live game, 30s) is unacceptable for allowing counterplay to mortal. I hope a solution for this is reached prior to pub 92 being pushed to mainshards.

@Kyronix Was the atlas text a part of today's patch? They are still neigh to unreadable in the EC :(

We need DARK colors for the text, not pastels.
Wow, I was looking at that for a good 10 seconds before I realized there was a rune to Luna in the book, those colors definitely need to be changed. Even though I know it's there now I can still barely see it. Looks pretty much invisible to me. I have 20/20 vision and have never needed glasses.... if I have trouble seeing it then I can't even imagine how hard it must be to see it for people with worse eyesight.

Even though I know it's there now I can still barely see it. Looks pretty much invisible to me. I have 20/20 vision and have never needed glasses.... if I have trouble seeing it then I can't even imagine how hard it must be to see it for people with worse eyesight.
I'm playing on a 47" LED screen and the colors are horrid. Even at that size its difficult to read.

I hate it! Of course, that's likely because I copied my tamer over, and pets don't do anything to the Quest bosses I've fought so far - The Great Ape & the T-Rex. For the Ape, I was with a couple guildmates from LS & we were all in wraith form spamming fireball/explosion/flamestrike. I was using Death Ray too, which was doing 120-127 dmg per hit.

@Kyronix @Bleak any plans to fix that? Dinosaur Slayer doesn't work on it either, per @CovenantX just now in Ventrilo.

The T-Rex is indeed a bit overpowered HP-wise, gets a little boring hacking at it that long.

The Great Ape's barrels need a way to avoid them... *jumps* :p

*edit: The T-Rex's public corpse lags when opening it in the EC, similar to some EM mobs.

Edit #2: The lavastone spawn needs to be upped. Dear god its boring and a waste of picks...

Interesting set of quests, the Volcano area is amazing, I'd love to have something like that where pvp is enabled, fun stuff.

Bug - The Great Ape & The Great Hunt Quests: Summoned & Tamed pets seem to be unable to damage these mobs.

(Sakkhra and Kurak might be reversed...I'm tired :p)

Anyway, you can KEEP these if you want, or turn tem in for one of the end rewards. The chain IS repeatable!

The timer needs to be longer for multiple templates not just off setting mortal.

They will need to adjust the special timer.

I agree on the digging of the lava stone being way to high between "getting" them, even set mining to GM but it didn't change. Went thru 350+ uses and still only had gotten 3 when it was to late to continue (had to work this morning). The lava coming periodically was funny as hell and there were plenty of places to go to escape. The lava elementals weren't too overpowered so other than the "drop" rate, I give that one a thumbs up :thumbup: The tiger cub quest wasn't too bad, solve a puzzle while being attacked by trappers and tigers (and boy did they increase the spawn rate on those). I freed 5 cubs before I realized you needed to escort them back, but all in all it wasn't bad (tho a few did die on the way back and there was no way to heal them). Only did the 1st two quests and the lava rock quest item that you turn in (or not ;) ) looks awesome. Will finish the quests sometime over the weekend.

Just normal shovels you can make or buy from tinkers. I would assume pickaxes would work as well.

Being color blind is a real hindrance to playing UO these past couple of years. I don't use the new runebook at all because I can't see the cities most of the time. For those who care, here is the type of color blindness that I have Moderate Deutan | EnChroma

i just heard baby tiger....this has the dixie stamp of approval all over it! and while were giving ideas and i know you guys are looking at this thread lol..... how bout some bird cages...please =) we could go around taming wild birds to put in them to give them some sort of animation........there are so many different types of birds in the land. so much thought was put into that. we should utilize it =)

Am I the only one who was INCREDIBLY annoyed by the tiger cub quest? Don't get me wrong, they are cute & I love the addition of them, but I found it to be impossible without extreme amounts of luck.

@Kyronix - I don't want the quests to be too easy, obviously, but is there any chance we can get an HP or resist bump on the tiger cub rescue quest? Or make it so we can heal the cub, because as they are now, they die far too easily.

I think they should make you immune to mortal for a few seconds, just like para blow.
This is a good idea but I wonder how the implementation would go.

This would require a timer so which is easier would be my question.

Adjust the special to include a timer or add in a new timer for immunity.

Either one would work fine.

Similar to the poison auto-cure timer, maybe? I think that's within six seconds of curing the first poison, and I believe para blow/nerve strike operate on a similar timer. The main problem I can see with mortal working the same way is still getting hit with it again, since you can't cure/trapped box your way out of it. Apple it once, get mortaled again, it ends early due to resistance. You'll get mortaled a 3rd time and won't have any way to cure it w/out a Cleansing Winds or Remove Curse.

So let me think of the timing here:

You get mortaled and apple
If they have to wait 6 seconds which allows you to heal which is 5 seconds.

If the timer is 3 seconds they can potentially interrupt a bandage still giving them a chain mortal.


currently the timer is 8 seconds for
Diminishing returns. I would almost guess they would turn that to a static delay before having it available or have it resistedlike para (either way)

changing it to 8 seconds static would be:

Mortaled and apple
5 second heal
They have a 3 second wait
Mortal again lasting six seconds (15 seconds left on apple timer assuming 1 second to use first apple)
8 second wait on mortal again letting you heal again (7 seconds left in timer)
They mortal you for 6 seconds again
You heal and by the time they mortal you again apple is ready

So this leaves you with only one mortal you can't heal through for 6 seconds but this doesn't include
Potions either

This will probably be easier to do on a spreadsheet

One of my books is readable, while another isn't. Its damn odd. The colors are still too light, but as @Potgut pointed out, a simple stroke to the font would fix it.
Older style runebooks have the standard coloring, but the runic atlases don't. It's an easy fix for sure, but I don't like the new colors in the Atlases.

Also, for people who were having trouble with the Tiger Cub quest, second screenshot. Thanks @Kyronix

Which shard did you encounter the atlas issue?

They wouldn't work on a normal shard yet.

On test center they worked fine.

Timers are the most horrible and lazy developer addition in years. Make EVERYTHING cost mana, and actually BALANCE the mana cost of things. Arbitrary timers are silly, and lazy coding. Nothing used to be timed ages ago. That's still how it should be. Having to KNOW when a timer is up is silly if you can't physically SEE the timer, knowing if you have mana is easy because you can SEE your mana. Anyone that things more timers is a good thing hasn't pvpd in UO for long...

This seems to serve no purpose except be a major timewaster to everyone and pets can only be used in some of the rooms so you have to leave pet, do those, finish, recall out, run in again. This is already a terribly time consuming quest and it would sure help if we didn't have to go in and out with our pets on foot all the time.
um.. really? I take my dragon with me into all the rooms.

He's great in the bar, kills the treefellows in the orchard, keeps the armor busy in the armory while I purify the phelada-thingies :) eats the water elementals in the fountain so I can build the trench and usually I can get him up on the platform in the belfry to help kill the mighty dragon...so....take your pet with you to all the rooms, they do help quite a bit!

My Dragon can best that Dragon. And i just have him keep the trees busy while I work. He's awesome killing water eles. And in the Bar he keeps the Pirates off my back. He can take one out if he wants...

Mortal Strike is being seen as an issue in PvP, because Mortal Strike has become more important than ever in PvP. This is due to how tough players have become from Legendary Artifacts. Solo killing someone with 150 Health, 45% DCI, 30% Eaters, 12+ HPR, 12% CF, and 50% EP with Greater Heal/Cure Pots (which a lot of people script), isn't exactly easy, especially with how fast and how many ways there are to heal nowadays.

What special doesn't cost mana? what are you talking about?

So you think if you were to outnumber someone it would be fair for a group of people to use the para special and no one would stand a chance? That sounds stupid, and very unbalanced for anyone who doesn't want to play with large numbers on their side.

Runebooks: Love the new look
Runic Atlas: Not a big fan of the colors (hurts my eyes :eyes:)

Have completed 3 of the quests thus far.
T Rex Took 40 min with 2 mystics, probably would of died quicker with Word of death at the end but we had no focus:rant2:
T rex was discorded, so that helped. Certainly way too many HP, found it to be boring after awhile. Energy seems to be its weakness.

Lava quest was interesting, I rather liked this one. The elementals are not too hard to kill and that Lava keeps you on your toes!..lol
The mining of the rocks is way too slow (GM skill in)
There was also no way to tell how many rocks you had gathered as they were not a visible item. Quest log did not display total collected

Big Ape was fun.Being tossed into the lower pit with the silverbacks, could be increased. just adds to the fun. :banana:
The Skull of Aphazz could use maybe a new look or some color.
