UO AUTOPATCH MFC Application has stopped working

I am a long time veteran to Ultima, and I have been taking a few months off from the game to play with some rl friends on a sphere shard. I am ready to return to the real servers now, but I am having a very frustrating problem. I uninstalled all versions of UO from my computer, and reinstalled the classic client right from the uo.com website. The game patched up completely just fineand I get the patch session completed message. However when I click the Ok button, I get an error message saying, "UO AUTOPATCH MFC Application has stopped working" and the client never loads. I made sure everything is set to run as administrator (I am running Windows Vista Home Premium with service pack 1 installed), and have uninstalled/reinstalled multiple times. Still the same problem every time. Can someone please help me! I tried everything in the other thread someone posted in this forum last year, defragmenting, disc cleanups, etc. I desperately am seeking some help.

The site listened earlier (http://vboards.stratics.com/uo-tech/152369-where-download-game.html) to download the Classic Client is not a good url anymore.

I have tried to download the classic from UOHerald.com/downloads (among other sites given to me by friends) and it will not install. I have done this at least eight times now, it will patch to Age of Shadows on occasion, which of course does not get you into the game.

I do not like the 3d client, have four accounts and have been playing for more than ten years. I am running Win XP Pro, others have the same problem with Win 7, tried it with win8 also.

if no answers on this forum, can anyone furnish me an email address where i can reach someone to fix this? Am overwhelmed by frustration, darnit, i love the game!

Just tested it, and it is downloading fine.

It appears to be quite a bit more recent, but still a bit out of date

Current client is 7.0.12.1
Download is 7.0.10.3


The 1.46.whatever client name format was phased out 2-3 years ago

i need a pro to start me from scratch with this..... have installed and failed to install so many times i am giving up for now.



P.S., of course, i am too addicted to give up for long....
