UO Auto Patch Error w/ Vista

Now I'm not totally sure if this is a Vista Error, but this is the first time in 10 years that I have come across this problem.

I installed UO on a new computer that came with Windows Vista, overall I do not think it is as bad as the hype is giving it, but I'm not overly satisfied either.

When I go to patch while starting UO, I get to the UO Auto Patch window, and I get Internet Explorer Script Error. I click Yes, it comes back, I click No it comes back.

Here's a Screeny:

Has anybody else come across this issue? I do not use Internet Explorer, however it is installed on this computer. I have not updated it, but this is a brand new computer, so I am assuming that it is of the latest version. (I use Mozilla Firefox)

That's an odd message. Ask.com? Why would UO being using ask.com unless it launches a search from there for the patcher's banner page....

You might have to contact EA/Mythic/UO support to find out about that one.

In the meantime. Did your new PC come fully loaded with Anti-Malware (Anti-Virus + Anti-Spyware+Anti-Spam) Software? I know you don't use Internet Explorer, but Vista does. You may need to go to Microsoft's Update page and make sure your new Vista system is fully patched. Depending on where you bought your system, it may or may not have come with the latest security and bug patches. If it's been sitting in a box for a few months, it may even be missing SP1.

Could be a browser hijacker screwing with IE, since UO's auto patch message is tied into it. Try running a spyware removal tool of some sort.

That is a pretty common error in vista. Nothing to worry about in most cases. If it continually errors you should take a look at other applications running that may be causing an issue.

I run UO on a vista machine when I am at one of my jobs and it occasionally does the same thing.

Oh yeah before I forget. Update your machine lol seriously make sure everything is up to date having just bought the machine I bet it's behind quite a bit already.

A good idea is to run UO in administrator mode and in XP compatible mode.

It's not just Vista. I get the same message on one of my newer laptops with XP. I just end task on UO Auto Patch and the login screen comes up.

Uninstall the ASK toolbar, that's a known problem with the UO AutoPatcher and ASK.
