Could anyone please shed some light on how the new account management works? I guess I am too stupid to understand it, or maybe I am just too old.

Until a few days ago I have had an "Ultima Online Account". It had a login name and a password that allowed me to log into the game and also to manage my account on the website. Same procedure since almost 14 years. Easy.

Now.. that same old login name allows me to log into the game. But how do I manage my account on the website? Here's what I tried:

I go to the Mythic account management webpage which is titled "Account Management" and it asks me to
a) log in with my EA account or
b) log in with my Mythic account

What is a Mythic account? I do have an old Dark Age of Camelot account. I haven't played that game in many years. I am not supposed to use that login, am I?

Since I do have an EA account, which as far as I understand was recently converted to an Origin account (I wasn't asked, it was simply done), I specify that login info and choose a) login with EA account.

That takes me to the next webpage which is still titled "Account Management" and it shows a form asking me to specify my new EA Account Setup, which consists of Persona, Secret Word Hint and Secret Word. What does that mean? I do not want to change my existing EA account, nor do I want to create a new EA account. So what exactly does EA Account Setup mean? What will happen when I fill out those fields and click the submit button?

I am lost at that point. :confused: I assume that my UO account has to be linked to my EA account. But how do I do that? Where do I enter my EA account info or my Origin account info or my Ultime Online account info or my Mythic account info....

I don't want to enter the wrong information in the wrong place and then spend an eternity figuring out how to fix it.

Oh my... Mythic can't be serious. Do they actually expect non-computer-experts to understand that? Also I am not going to click "forgot my EA password" as I have not forgotten it.

Anyway, thanks for the link! I'll try to make the best of it.

Yes, I think we can all agree with you that there might be some latent ambiguity inherent in the procedure.

Anyhow, this is Players Corner and besides the link Frarc provided we can't give your any better advice than to leave your account alone for now. Upgrade codes can't be applied anyway and gametime is sort of suspended. As long as you can play just do this and wait a few more days till things get settled.

If posters in UHall are correct, EA will be stuffing everything into their Origin download/update service. That will require a download manager on your system.

I can't comment on everything I've read/heard ... but many folks who use Steam are not planning to use the EA service. IIRC it's because of how DRM and other stuff are handled with Steam apparently a better deal. <shrug> Just look on ArsTechnica dot com in the last few days for Battlefield 3 release articles.

Me? I'm packing things up and calling it quits for good ... Account Management is so borked I need to call them to remove billing data. My EA master account is not recognized. Sheesh.
