Unknown Deed

I just picked up an item at an IDOC that I am not familiar with. It is an ordinary looking deed that says "Unknown ". When I double click on the deed and try to place it I get a message saying "The Deed does not seem to be for anything." Anyone know what this is for?

I sent the same message to the GM's and here was the reply I got back.

GM tells Yellow Beard: Greetings, The item you are inquiring about is not supported by the Game Masters at this time. The item is however subject to change and is not officially deemed legal by the development team. The development team may at anytime remove or alter the item without prior warning to the community if deemed necessary. Please be aware that ownership of this item is at your own risk. Thank you for your support.

There are a few of these about and I am sure some older players are a bit more familiar with them than the GM appeared to be. If my memory serves me correctly at one time these used to be just titled 'deed'. Whether by design or by accident at some point these became worded 'unknown'. I have one that as well as being labelled 'unknown' also has 'Crafted by Lord Thomas' on it.

I have never heard of, or seen, any suggestion, anywhere, that these are in any way illegal.

To the best of my knowledge these were created by a bug and if bugged items are illegal to own - God help us all.

bugged and useless. I can't remember the details now but something screwed up on a publish. I had a few made by Runlykell. Not on purpose, mind, just caught up in the problem at the time. I trashed them.

If I remember right, it was something like one publish changed the order of a certain object (or objects) on the crafting menus, screwing around with people's UOAssist macros, meaning if you hit one of your old macros, you'd get a blank deed.

So technically, for a while, if you wanted to you could make as many as you liked, so they're not super rare, but I also never heard anything about them being illegal (and they've been around for ages now), so I'm pretty sure that was just a canned response.
