The Libraries of Wind, home to more knowledge than most scholars could dream of. Its marble walls and paths glowed with a magical light, allowing the texts of ages past to be read without a need of fire. And of course, its halls were only available to a select few citizens.

Today however, instead of the usual group stationed in, a single man sat at a large desk, piled high with scrolls and ancient tomes.

He had been granted access ages ago, and though the generations which had originally granted it had since died, decomposed and returned to the land, their kin gladly allowed the access to remain granted.

A Shadow Wisp hovered nearby, looking over the names on bindings, helping its master in his search for the exact one he needed.

Making the odd noises its kind usually did, Va’lis turned to face it with an amused look upon his face.

“Yes?” Since he had returned to his old home, his voice had lost its normal tone. Instead, in its place was a harsh noise. Cold as ice and black as night. “What did you find?”

Moving closer, the Wisp settled upon his shoulder. Closing his eyes, he allowed the knowledge to be transferred to his mind.

The tome on the right hand side, fifth down from the top. Ignore every ninth word, but write every second after the ninth down until you reach the third page. It seems to be a kind of message system your kind would enjoy figuring out.”

As the last word faded away, the Wisp seemed to contract in on itself and with a slight -pop-, vanished in a flash of multicolor lights.

Standing eagerly, Va’lis moved to the pile his familiar had indicated and grabbed the text. Ignoring the rest of the scrolls as they crashed down, he moved back to the table, grabbed a quill, and began to read…

Two hours later, he held the finished message in his hand.

His eyes sparked with something dangerous, a look which hadn’t entered them since he had first discovered the Armageddon spell. Slowly however, the look faded as control was regained once more.

Caution would be used with this one. There was no telling how much power it could unleash.
