Yes you can mine ore of every kind, and gems, and granite, under Bucs Den. You do not get much in each spot, but you have no competition.

What competition are you referring too? With all the spot to mine there is no competition.

An even better spot is in wind. Its almost all guard zone, making those pesky blackrock elementals much easier to deal with. (assuming your paying attention as you should be.) If you go into Wind in Fel you get double the resources and I have had absolutly no problem pulling out blackrock/gems there. Combine that with having a bank handy it is a win-win situation.
In the last 3 years I have seen 1 person in wind on my home shard, and they had the cunning notion to attack my stealth miner (back when you could mine hidden) assuming i was macro'ng instead of just choosing to ignore them. The guards also convinced them otherwise.
Even without using a prospectors tool all the ore's are available, at least on my shard..
