Free on GOG.com, no DRM, and packaged to run on Windows.

Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire - GOG.com

You, the Avatar, have been transported by your Moonstone to the primitive and savage world of Eodon. There, you must work towards uniting the native tribes to face a common threat: a race of gigantic ants known as the Myrmidex. You won’t be alone, however, as you will be assisted by Professor Rafkin, ace reporter Jimmy Malone, and the exotic jungle princess Aiela. Take control of strange and powerful shamanistic magics and confront a varied bestiary that includes vicious dinosaurs and even mad high priests.

Worlds of Ultima 1: Savage Empire was built using a modified Ultima VI engine; it’s familiar to long-time fans but it’s also a great starting point for people who are new to the world of Ultima. Featuring a text-based conversation system along with turn-based combat, Worlds of Ultima 1: Savage Empire should find a permanent space on your hard drive.
Ultima Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams - GOG.com

Explore the Red Planet and save history before it’s too late!

The year is 1893. The World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Astronomer Percival Lowell's colossal space cannon is poised to hurl a huge bullet-ship to Mars. Then disaster strikes! The cannon discharges a day early with dozens of history's leading figures aboard. Unprepared for the rigors of Mars, the accidental space travelers have little chance of surviving. You must rescue the stranded expedition or history will be forever changed!

Martian Dreams is the second in the Ultima Worlds of Adventure series, taking you, the Avatar, to exciting new worlds of science fiction, mystery, historic exploration, horror, time travel, espionage, and fantasy. Time and space, past and future, fact and fiction--all are are yours to explore in Ultima Worlds of Adventure
These are actually very expensive to buy on ebay. You may think you can get Savage Empire for pretty cheap, but it's actually some EA 10-game CD pack and it doesn't have some of the stuff with it.

Yes, they aren't the normal Ultimas, but they are Ultimas and they are free. And Ultima IV is still free if you haven't picked it up.

Ultima IX is not up there. Would be nice to have a fully patched IX that plays nice, I never got the last round of patched/corrected CDs, just downloaded the patches and applied as needed.

Although there is the Beautiful Britannia mod for IX.

A Martian Dreams remake would probably do pretty well, given how big the steampunk stuff is these days.

Two great games i've wanted to officially own for a very long time. And of course, scans of the cluebooks are always welcome...

Actually i'd still love to see a translation of the SNES port of Savage Empire, too...

Did they ever even do a fully patched CD? I used the downloadable 1.19 patch as well.
I been meaning to try the 1.19f patch but haven't gotten around to it yet.

There were 'remastered' CDs according to the original site

4/10/00 - We're happy to announce that the new remastered install CD's are being sent currently to all registered owners of Ultima: Ascension. This CD contains all of the changes from the three released patches, as well as an improved install program on the disc itself. Shipping began in March and will continue throughout April. If you registered your copy of Ascension before March 31, and have not received your remastered CD by the end of April, we recommend you contact the EA warranty department at [email protected].
I'm not sure what versions the remastered CDs were, but I remember they came with a copy of UO.

Yay, Martian Dreams completes my Ultima collection. Just wish I had it in a box like the others. *sighs*

Not willing to pay $70 on Ebay?

It's nice to have all but the last Ultima up there on GOG.
I haven't looked on eBay for it in nearly a decade :p I think the last Ultima games I bought off there were Apple versions of UI-UIII.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing! Does the UO team have anything to do with GOG? Can they pass along suggestions to them? If so, can you guys urge them to release Origin's old Knight's of Legend game? This is where the character Segallion from Ultima 6 originated from which indicate ties between the lands. Yes, I know those ties are likely financial cross promotion between games but for the sake of our Ultima project, we want to include it. Also, can you add Moebius - The Orb of Celestial Harmony? I believe there was mention of that as well.

They had nothing to do with it, it was all ultimacodex.com:

Savage Empire & Martian Dreams Released on GOG.com (Updated!)

There’s been a lot of clamour to see these games added to the GOG.com lineup, and I’m pleased to say that several members of the Ultima fan community came together to make it a possibility. The game data that was submitted to BioWare Mythic, and to GOG.com by them, was generously supplied by Pix and Sergorn Dragon, who between them made sure that the most recent releases of each game were handed over. Pix, Joe Garrity of the Origin Museum, and Steven “Xe Dragon” Dengler supplied maps, game documents, and bonus content that will be included in the GOG.com package. And over the course of a week or so back in May, I put all these disparate components together and handed it all off to BioWare Mythic.
Mythic then added their own little piece of awesome to the mix, requesting that GOG.com that release the games for free, alongside Ultima 4…as a gift to the Ultima fandom and a “thank you” to all of the series’ many devoted fans.
The only thing Mythic did was allow it to be distributed for free.
