Ultima Online Story

I've been looking for some information on the history of the game and how things came to be. I'm not having much luck though. Just wondering if anyone knows of a site that talks about all the lore, as I'm new to the game i'd love to know where it's come from. Thanks.

Thanks for the link Flutter. I had found that site earlier and while it is a good source for lore for the Ultima universe, the UO world has gone in a whole other direction. Really looking on UO specific information, as it seems the Avatar has had very little effect in the world we live.

You can see http://guide.uo.com/history.html for a brief history of how Ultima Online's world came to be. Think of the UO timeline as diverging from the main timeline at the end of Ultima 1. Knowing the lore of the original games is still useful, though--some events, like the corruption of Blackthorn, Minax's attacks on Britannia, the destruction of Magincia, and the rise of the Shadowlords, resemble events in the main timeline.

As for UO-specific history, there's an archive of Britannia News Network articles at UOGuide. For shorter synopses, search these boards--I've seen a few of them crop up.

The avatar doesn't really exist in the world we live in.

Search around youtube and see if you can find the Ultima Online Intro. It was a cinematic included at the start of the original UO (dunno why they removed it) and really sets the stage.

There's a movie in the opening page of 2D (where the account name and password is - just click the "movie" button ) - and it always plays the first time you run after the install, telling the story of Mondain, the stranger, and the shattering of the gem.
