In fact, when the Crystal and Shadow items came out, the general opinion was that ONLY the globe was worth having out of the lot, and it was the only one you could find people willing to buy. Practically everything else was tossed on the ground, or (later) turned in during the 2008 Spring Cleaning.
The cornucopias are far from ugly, as well, ALSO were prized initially for their looks, but quickly became too commonplace.
If you want to talk about ugly, start with the entire Crystal Collection from 9th anny.
Crystal anything, but especially the housing tiles.

Yes hooded robes, and mostly referring to the hole in our chars rear when on a mount facing north-west. And the gorget... Quite the tattered brand new cloak.

The mempo is the ugliest thing in UO. I still can't bear to wear Leurocian's Mempo because of the ugly factor. The second ugliest thing are the crystal housing tiles.

Yes, those pictures show exactly why hooded robes are a huge let-down. I remember being excited when they finally gave us the hooded robes. Then we came to find out that stuff leaked through.

God, the EC leather gorget is hideous. Simply hideous. It looks like a freaking turtleneck.

Solstice Candles...... WHY do they have to be larger than my character??? They should be HALF they size they are or even 1/3rd.... the size....

Snowmen I don't mind so much..... I think they are somewhat silly but.... it's no biggy.
As far as clothes go..... the Mempo is the most hideously ugly thing in the game... I HATE it.
In the EC I can't understand why my character looks like the dress has white on it in game but on my paperdoll there isn't anything white on it.... Totally doesn't match.....

are you kidding? it's not even in perspective.
anyway.. I always thought some of the coolest additions to the game were the savage content with controllers and all of that. was a good era of UO and all of the art was good. plague beast were ugly but it was a monster so it was supposed to be ugly. and you operated on them to get the plague beast core which was a ice blue brain. I remember i was very good at operating on them and made many mils doing that.

Cornucopias are ugly..

Any 3D stuff thrown in classic client without outline and with ugly shades.
That's what I got from a brief look at InsideUO. I'm sure there's more. I didn't even cover house tiles and walls, cause there are too many. Also, some creatures look wrong, but that depends on the client you use.

First of all I went to my fav dameon place to sacrifice.
It took awhile for me to understand that the leeping missbuildt poor animal was the old so brave dragon.
I went home and wanted to smith some items.
For the first time I saw the paperdoll of my old brave smith and he looked like a 12 years old girl.
Logged and changed to 2d again.
In short .Dragons and paperdoll in EC.

I think mempos are getting a bad rap here! I personally love them, especially if they are made out of a metal material. On female characters they look like little cat faces! Too cute!
Crystal is hideous, all types. Globes of sosaria, and my most hated, that disgusting blood worm costume!

I thought crystal was awful too, then I found some of it could be oki, in the right setting.
It's not so much the 'ugly' that gets to me it's the 'out of proportion to everything else' stuff.

The truth is it is "different strokes for different folks" and some things that are ugly in one context can be quite spectacular in another. Although I suppose if I had to choose two it would be the EC dragon, and the CC swamp dragon - oh ya, and all those Felucca "pvp" waterfall house designs...

True, though it really makes me wonder even more if they are indeed going to use things by NetDragon when they release a remade Ultima for Asia in 2011.Isn't it going on more like 3 years now? They said they'd redo it back when KR was foist upon an unsuspecting public.

the travesty mask. makes my guy look like an ugly buddah.
Oh ya, The Mark of the Travesty. That truly is one of the ugliest creations in the game. I doubt if I'd ever use one, even if I found a perfect one, for that reason alone.

WOW!!! I was going to take a screenshot of the beetles in the EC. But when I logged on, I was plesently surprized. They accually listened to us and fixed the God awful looking bugs. They look pretty good now.
LOL I think they are doing a good job at correcting the graphics... they still need a bit of work on the bags.

The globe itself is great, imo. It's the base that's ugly. And the cornucopia is really well done, just way too big.Globe of Sosaria

One thing that all this talk about art shows is that there's a wide range of opinions. Sometimes I think it's more to do with specific parts or aspects that jump out at different people, for good or for bad. Like that Globe, I think the great globe overcomes the really lousy base, but I can understand where that base destroys it for others. Just a matter of perspective.
A good example is between me and my son, who played UO when the first 3D client came out.
I couldn't accept it because of the avatars and movement, along with a few MOB's art. But my son loved the spell effects, and ignore the avatars. When I asked him about them, he just said "yeah, they're ugly." But the effects had him thrilled, where they didn't overcome my objections.
