Two Medusa Scale Colors?

Has anyone else gotten two different colored Medusa Scales? I got the non-normal color about a month ago.

Blue is pre-mortem gray is post-mortem. You get 12 from her, I believe, but only between three and five of the gray from carving her corpse.

They make make some difference in the gorgon-lenses crafting, but I can't say for sure.

From what i've seen the ones taken while she's alive always or almost always block her petrification when made into a lens and used, where after death ones don't always and lesser scales only do sometimes.
