Turn In and beyond...

The "great turn in" is soon. Sort of a targeted "Clean Up Britannia 2".

All well and good.

However... when they DO add in the turn in, the devs should only allow for a couple more weeks' for the current Dark Moonglow and straggler Ophidian spawn to occur before they clean it up.

While it would be interesting if such a system were more permanent (or ToT were brought back permanently), any system that does a reward that is NOT consumable (armor, weapons, jewelry, clothing, deco items) is doomed to one of two outcomes:

Outcome 1. Ilshenar Minor Artifacts and Paragon Chests. While popular when first released, they have been around for so long that they are little more than trash now. People toss chests to the ground in Dark Moonglow as it is untouched and we've all griped about the Marties. This is why I oppose leaving ToT active permanently and why this system should be limited as well.

Outcome 2: Legacy Dungeon Artifacts. While their initial spawn rate was a bit high (especially in Fel), their post 10th Anniversary event spawn rate (especially in Tram) has been set so low that noone even tries for them anymore.

Preventing Outcome 1: Give the event a couple more weeks after the turn in is added, then SHUT OFF ALL DROPS of turn in items. Clean up the straggling mobs and be done with introducing turn in items for this event. Using this method, the turn in mechanism itself can be a more permanent addition to the gae and be a purposeful diminishing use mechanism (much like the Minister of Trades in Tokuno). The mechanism stays in place so noone "misses it", but the items become more rarely acquired over time due to a limited supply of turn in resources.

Preventing Outcome 2: The same as outcome 1 in terms of a turn in. However for a straight drop-based system, the drop rate should be enough that a player has a reasonable chance at getting such an item during the process of using the area/spawn for a more pressing end. Basically, the drop should become a secondary reward, but not one that is nigh impossible to get.

There's an odd balance between "so rare that only the Luna scriptors can afford it" and "so common that noone wants them anymore" that needs to be considered in how the turn in system is implemented. I hope the devs have considered this.

[/ QUOTE ]Actually don't try for them cause i got them all several times over and this was in tram, so I imagine people who went to fel for them got 8 times as many.

[/ QUOTE ]I do agree with that, thats why the solen quests were perfect. Of course the have little use anymore with the BOS changes. A bad change all around, hurts the regular player doesn't stop scripters. Not to mention it was one of the few quest that stood the test of time. Now all people really do is fletching quests and most of them are scripters.

I think the spawn rate for the legacy dungeons now is just perfect. But a little too late. It still is great for new people, boring for people beyond the skills of these dungeons, except for destard, and that isn't worth the effort anymore IMO.

The devs are listening to a handful of people as they do with pvp changes, disregarding the silent majority of players, and those people have quietly left in droves.

You can still get Ophidian stuff? Hmm, could anyone point me to a post or location to hunt for it? I have been abscent from UO and am now back and playing and I wouldn't mind picking up the pieces to add to my collection.

Anyway help/direction would be great! Thanks!

Try the underground of Terethan Keep....

I picked up 1 snake skin and 7 Ophidian Rations tonight, going down there to check.

The fight with a terethan Avenger, Ophidian Justicar (Major) and myself was interesting to say the least - true 3 way fight, as the other two monsters kept switching between me and each other.

I think it is only on certain shards that they are still available... Some shards never defeated the invasion!
