Trying UO again

I placed a house and designed it. Now,I'm looking for some action. The last time I played I knew all the cool people went to doom for artifacts. I could go solo and still find a lot of people.

Where's the cool hang out location (s) for loot and killing stuff these days?

A lot of solo hunting these days, due to changing dynamics of the game and the changing nature of the content.

Ask in Global Chat (there's a Global Chat system now) about group hunts and for specific tips and advice as you encounter different things.

Some shards, GL for example, has communities of people who do the Ilsh champ spawns and those are pretty easy to jump into. Some shards also still have public Peerless runs announced periodically.

Good to have you back! Shame, Covetous and Despise have been revamped. Items are dropped with a lot of properties, some very intense. Some are laughably useless, others "Darn if only it weren't brittle and irreparable," and once in a while an astounding piece comes up. (Just don't believe the guy who posted an obvious fake.)

The big thing is to imbue, which requires acquiring various resources and buying gems from NPCs. At minimum, you need to harvest magic items to "unravel" them for the three basic ingredients.
