Trying to Price Stone Items

I'm trying to figure out how to price stone items and need some suggestions.

I thought I'd use the following formula:

# of stone required * base price for type of stone * (1 + (1.0 - success rate))

Here's what I thought I'd use for the base price for the various types of stone:

1,000 Plain Stone
1,500 Dull Copper
2,000 Shadow Iron
2,500 Copper
3,000 Bronze
3,500 Gold
4,000 Agapite
4,500 Verite
5,000 Valorite

My carpenter has a talisman with a 23% masonry bonus on it.

For the small vases that take 1 stone each and my carpenter has a 100% success chance, the above formula would price each vase the same as the base prices listed above (e.g., a plain stone vase is 1,000 gp and a valorite vase is 5,000 gp). A large vase that takes 3 stones and she also has a 100% success rate would cost 3,000 gp for a plain one and 15,000 gp for a valorite one. Stone chairs take 4 stones and have a 100% success rate, so they would just cost 4 times the base price. Medium stone tables take 6 stones each and have a 93% success chance, so their price range would be 6,420 gp for plain up to 32,100 for valorite. Large stone tables take 9 stones each and have a 73% success chance, so their price range would be 11,430 for plain up to 57,150 for valorite.

The new gargoyle and gryphon statues take 20 stones apiece and my carpenter has a 69% chance to make them. That means plain ones would cost 26,200 gp (1000 * 20 * 1.31); shadow iron would cost 52,400 gp each (2000 * 20 * 1.31); and valorite would cost 131,000 gp each (5000 * 20 * 1.31).

The large gargoyle beds take 100 stones each and have a 100% success chance (whew!), so they would cost 100k for plain up to 500k for valorite.

Any thoughts on the above formula? I can post more example prices later after I get my spreadsheet done, but wanted to see first if I'm just totally off with the base prices and how to factor in the failure rate.

Thanks!

Its best to get with some of the MYTH members as they sell stone crafted items on a regular basis. They should be able to give you a rough estimate on pricing. i think i was paying around 2k for large shadow stone tables tho.

Actually, I sorta base the granite somewhat akin to what an ingot of the same color might cost.

IF a plain iron ingot is 10gp *or whatever* then so to would be 1 granite rock plain. And then they go up from that, to valorite granite being natch the highest, per granite rock hue. I seldom figure in the amt of granite per say it may take for just tables and chairs but I DO figure it in more as to how many granite stone something takes with [granite hoggin] items like the lg. gargoyle bed/stone anvils and so forth.

Yet in the end it is *just furniture* and masonry deco, so folks only going to be willing to pay what they *think* any of it is worth to them or they just won't buy it, and then only when they need it or are redoing their homes. I probably should price all masonry higher but, in the end ie it's just furniture, if they not redoing their homes, its not gona fly off the vendors, anyhow be it higher or even way lower priced.

What folks often do not factor in, is that CURSED RNG.

One can mine for hours and get a zillion plain granite rocks, even in a shadow or valorite ore vein..utterly ANNOYING as hell ! So someone wants ya to build them [a sexy black velvet] looking 100 shadow granite hogging large gargoyle bed, um sure I can go mine for 4 days to maybe get 100+ shadow granite plus more for fails at max skills maxy talismans !! :) IF ya haven't made the large garoyle bed in shadow, well make one for yourself if no one else ! I was surprised when I made the first one and it was ALL BLACK VELVET looking with lighter gray pillows on it and I went, aWeSome soo COOL @! lol

Anyways, my usual norm is 1k for plain small granite tables/1.5k for lg plain granite tables/ dc 1.5 k for small/2k for large DC tables/ I price shadow and copper tables the same, 2.5k and 3k they should be 4k/ 4.5 k though but then they just sat there on the vendor, and then bronze up one more per table size I am about increasing prices nearly 500gp per granite hue type per small tables then per large tables. Agapite and gold I keep bout same value. Verite one up from that per size of tables and valorite is the highest prices 6.k small 6.5 k large or sometimes 6.5 small table and 7 k large valorite stone chairs higher than the rest too, but one *also must factor in rarity to GET the blue in the first place plus the amt of em ya need to begin with to even MAKE large table in valorite in both directions, or even to get 4 blue granite to make one dorky stone chair in valorite, and failures when ya makin em too.

The chairs go about same..but since they fail us LESS no issue *flexible* on chairs more than tables or the spiffy 100 stone hogging large gargy beds or stone anvils prices.

As for deco the old school stuff vases pegasus about same price across the board regardless of granite color with maybe the top 2 colors a quarter more ie 25 gp. Think my pegasus for an example is 350 gp *probably for all of em maybe the blue and green are 25 gp more. Big deal. :)

For the gargy vases and gargy sculptures...they are more..1k for a gargy vase 1k for gargy sculpture and adding 250 gp - 500 gp per *level* of granite hue, from dc on up to valorite. *in theory a valorite sculpture should even be MORE than what I have em priced as on my vendor but its not like they are a hot selling ticket item either. Soooo, ima lucky those even sell at all at, any prices !

But them new statues now...if they do hog 20 granite, yeh them should be MORE for two reasons they are brand new, good looking, large, and they're hogging 20 granite per statue !

Slap some on ye vendors cuz even I didn't bother to upgrade to these packs, I can buy any extras I may want, off of YOU, so get crackin ! LOL
And good luck with it all !

RE: colors the granite items that sell the fastest are SHADOW, followed by plain/ copper/ DC/ then valorite verite, probably cuz those granite colors match more *house tiles* ! Gold and agapite oft just SIT THERE but then unless one is into pink or glaring gold....... haha they will sit there the longest on ye vendor ! And bronze matches great with the sand or dk. brown house tiles so even bronze sells lots faster, compared to pink and yellow ! lol Just sayin " :D

Queen Zen, your feedback was invaluable!!

I like playing with spreadsheets and I also want something I can refer to when I'm pricing stuff, so I set up a spreadsheet in Excel and then posted it in Google Documents. If you want to take a look at it, this link lets you view the spreadsheet:

https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...tLFwwdGZ2ekxKSlpjOWZvTGJrM0dOaEN3WUE&hl=en_US

Basically, I valued one piece of stone at the rates shown below. Then, for each type of item, I multiplied the rate for one piece of stone by the number of stone required and then multiplied that result by 1 plus the failure rate (which was looked up on the masonry gump while wearing a 23% masonry bonus talisman). Then I rounded down that result to the next multiple of 100.

150 Plain
250 Dull Copper
350 Shadow Iron
450 Copper
550 Bronze
650 Gold
750 Agapite
850 Verite
950 Valorite

One thing to note: It's not a typo that the large gargish bed and the gargish cot both take 100 stone. Hard to believe, but that's what the gump showed. LOL

Let me know what you think and thank you so much for the feedback!
