Treasure Map Changes Question

With the changes to the treasure maps, can you still decode the maps and then stone cartography to add something in its place?

You could try it, but I doubt that the chests would be any good. They would probably be mostly rusty chests. How much cartography skill you have determines the radius for finding the chest when you dig and also the quality of the chest. Luck at the time of digging determines the quality of the contents of the chest.

Mining is no longer needed.

No when it goes live, Cart is what will let you dig it up, instead of mining.

Note that you can stay hidden while digging and also while picking the lock and removing the trap.

It seems like sometimes you aren't revealed when the monsters spawn as the chest comes up and other times you are, so I haven't come to a firm conclusion yet on that aspect of digging up chests.
