Training with items as target and other training questions

Is the information from http://uo.stratics.com/content/skills/skilllimits.shtml still accurate?

I.e. if I'm training with items as target (i.e. taste id, arms lore, poisoning, stealing etc.), do I still have to switch them, so that I'm able to get a gain?
Do I still have to get a gain, to reset all previously used targets?

Are the 15 tiles for movement based skills just a suggestion or is this a hard fact.

Is GGS still in the game? Does 8x8 still work?

8X8 won't work and GGS still exist.

There are alot of different thoughts on gaining skill but i just tell you mine.

To gain a skill its all just a matter of using the skill alot. I don't believe to change targets of items if you don't have too. I do tell people if they train a skill and its been a while since they gain to take a step. Again its not sure if that matters or not. We all have our habbits and believe. ;)

For all skills its important to fight/make/cast the right monster/item/spell to gain. It should not be too easy or too hard. No failing will never result in a gain and too much failing won't get you anywhere either.
Try a bit of things and see what works out best for you. And never give up no matter how hard it can get sometimes with certain skills. :)

The anti macro codes where taken out so you can gain off one item (example you used to train lockpick with 200 chests now it only takes one).

Arms Lore, BTW, can theoretically be trained faster by crafting than by repeatedly loring an item, as there is an arms lore check on every item crafted that has weapon stats, or (non-shield) armor stats, and the time delay between items (using make #/make max in KR, or a macro UO Assist in 2D) is much shorter than the required time between lore uses.

If you can meet the following qualifications, you can train Arms lore via crafting at a net cost of 0 ingots (other than crafting tools).

1. Have 100 mining natural, or very close to it (see #2)
2. Have on +3 or +5 mining gloves to raise the modified mining to 101.2 or higher.
3. Have a salvage bag to craft in (item added in november 2007, recycles all contents in 1-2 seconds - MUCH better than using a recycle bag on UOA). An additional feature of the salvage bag is that it gives back +1 ingot per item smelted.
4. Have enough blacksmith skill to craft daggers 100% of the time (49.6; less if using a talisman each 1% of a talisman is equal to 0.5 skill, so a +30% talisman would let you do it at 34.6, and you can buy blacksmith to 40 in New Haven).

Method:
1. have less than 25 items on you, including crafting tools and salvage bag.
2. put 300 ingots into salvage bag.
3. Craft 100 daggers. This can be done with KR, and the "Make max" option. (For UO Assist in 2D, you record 100 menu selections of "make last" after the first dagger, then use that macro on all subsequent passes through this process). Grab new tools as needed (clicking on a new tool in 2D/UO Assist with the macro running will start using the macro on the new tool)
4. Click on salvage bag, choose the option for "all" or for the metal items.
5. Return the 300 ingots to the salvage bag, and go back to step 3, adding new tools to your backpack as needed.

How this works.

You get 0.66% of your ingots back per 1 point of mining, rounded down. That means that, to get 2/3 of your ingots back, you have to have over 101 mining.
Daggers take 3 ingots, so you get back 2 of the three from a normal recycle.
HOWEVER, since you get an extra ingot back per item from the bag, you get 2+1= 3; in other words, you get back 3 ingots for each 3 used. It's only at the 3 ingot level that this is possible, and only the dagger has that low an ingot cost.
