If train your hiding/stealth in your house will you gain faster? i don't think you can fail when hiding in a house you own.

Hiding, no.. Stealth I've trained twice in the last week or so, found no difference between house and anywhere else.

It's not a matter of speed it's a matter of simplicity. If you have a custom house you can gain Hiding and Stealth quicker because you can do it with less input from end of things.

Set up a floor of your house like in the picture below...You don't need the Bag Balls but I'll explain why they are there in a moment, what's important is the two teleporters that are circled..

Now you've got an unlimited Straight line to walk and work stealth in. The Bag Balls are there because I have a friend that uses KR, when he hits the far wall the client will try and turn him down the wall for some reason. By setting up like this you can set your character walking, (while walking click the left mouse button while never releasing the right one) let go of the mouse completely, and hold down your hide key...after that it's just watching the gains go up so you know when you change out armor.

Nexus, true that is the easiest, same way I trained stealth. But after a while hiding will no longer gain in a house by using the hiding skill (except GGS). It will still get passive gains from the system skill check when you successfully stealth. All-in-all hiding gains much faster out in the middle of nowhere.

Is 8 x 8 for hiding/stealth not the easiest way to do things these days even still? I realize 8 x 8 isn't supposed to work(at least I read that) but I've been working on a character last few days and I'm gaining just fine and quite quickly.

OH I forgot if you can do one of the higher end animal forms (llama/Ostard or higher) do it, this is what makes the difference duh, silly me! You'll get your passive hide checks about 3 times faster than than by just walking due to movement rate increases. So yea if your not doing Ninjitsu, then going out in the middle of nowhere is faster, but with high ninjitsu animal form offsets this...

by far this is easiest methode and you really dont need bags or atleast i did not hiding and stealth bolth gain very well and you are safe and you auto hide in a house witch gives you the same if not better gains and you gain stealth more cause you hide in house every time 6 hours max to gm bolth this way i just did it maybe 2 weeks ago

Someone asked about 8x8... it doesnt exist anymore hasnt for a while thats why you can use the same single item to gain say all of your poisoning off of. or in this instance keep walking the same line over and over again. previously you had to change location this is no longer the case.

How did you gain Ninja doing this? Shadow Jumping? I have GM Hiding and Stealth, but would love to gain some Ninja.

Minimum skill for Shadow Jump is 50. If your below that, buy some skill in New Haven and take the quest. You will gain pretty quick with Mirror Image and Weapon focus to 50.

Once at 50 I usually cast cat or dog form till I hit 65 or so. Then I start shadow jumping.
Shadow jumping is a fast way to increase your stealth and hiding.

Since you have already GM'd both, pehaps just casting animal forms might work for you till you reach the desired skill. The New Ninja FAQ has excellent inofrmation on Mana cost and minimum skill levels of all spells. I get my best gains with a 40-60% failure rate.

Have fun,
Q
