Are we penalized for canceling trade quests like we are with fishing?

If you don't use the public gates and instead run and/or sail to the town trader, you have a chance to get a nifty mempo.

To get the mempo, you have to do the fel smuggler's quest. Same type quests, just different cities and have to use fel.

For now, I'm trying for the books and signs from the tram quests and wondered if I got penalized if I canceled quests to moonglow and new mag.

I use Moongates for Jhelom, Magincia and Moonglow, I know I have no chance for the books or signs but it doesn't take long and I like the SoT's and the gold for the city.

When using a moongate, the gold income for the city is significantly reduced from what it would be had you ran/walked/sailed the distance.

Perhaps that is true but how long does it take to sail from say Skara to Magincia or Skara to Moonglow or Skara to Jhelom. To me the hit in gold is not worth the time consumed. Just a matter of choice, I made mine.

Edit: Just did a moongate from Skara to Jhelom, took about 5 minutes, got 50,000 GP, not too bad in my book.
Edit again: Just did a run from Skara to Jhelom, ran as far on land as I could, sailed over the water, got 66,000 GP, that doesn't seem like a terrible reduction for the increased amount of time.

I will lollygag around the moongate on those towns and kill a couple of ambushes, the gold is still good . . .

I use moongates to islands because I hate sailing. It is even worse when you sail a long distance and get a .1 camping SOT for your trouble

I'm not a fan of sailing either simply because I have to kill things with energy vortex summons and it's a pain getting the boat into position so my guys can finish off the spawn after provocation...
