Tracking WAY Off In Malas (Siege Perilous)

So I wanted to bring this to someone's attention. Since as most people know, Siege is a full Fel Ruleset shard. Even out in Luna/Umbra and Malas areas are all Fel. So during an IDOC fight or PvP around the slums of Luna, I have noticed tracking is way off. I tested it out thoroughly from Fellucca and Malas and when your on Malas, it is half a screen off from where it should be. I took same people to Fellucca and they tracked just fine.

Before anyone says different, I have 100 Track & 100 Detect. I tried it on people w/ hide/stealth skill and people with no hide/stealth. The results are the same.

Having a fix for this would be very nice.

In the picture below, I am tracking Captain Sureno and as you can see, the track marker is WAY off.

It's this way on all shards. Only fel faucet tracks correctly for me as well.

pfft ignore everything below, I think everything outside of felucca is malas.

Hit "alt+enter" to enter full screen mode, and "alt+enter" again to leave full screen mode. This will set your "game play" window to the upper left corner. Just tested it on Siege and
other funny-panty-pinky servers with insurance and smiling rabbits.
to make sure it wasn't just a Siege thing and it works for me.

Same thing goes for house placement.

Depending on how much of an offset you have is how much you have to guesstimate or eye ball the distance. With your offset I would guess your game play windows is about 600 to 800 pixels offset from the upper left corner.

It was this way on Siege before I took my walk about two years ago and I noticed it had not changed while I was gone.

This answers a question I have had for years. Primarily with regard to house placement. The places I find the issue discussed in forums, I just see people making fun of the question. Never an answer. I just tested what you wrote and it aligned my house placement tool. You solved a puzzle for me sir. Thank you!

I agree it does not always point directly to where the player is but I have found that the arrow usually DOES point in the direction he is. If I were to go to where the arrow is in your picture and move around where it is, it slowly moves down to the actual position. Even in your picture you can see that it is in line with his position. Not ideal, but the actual placing of the char can be identified

Your character's name is a trademark violation, FYI. :p
And your post is trolling, FYI.

Captain America? Seriously?

Actually, any player could report your trademark violation. As far as GM urgency is concerned, it's right up there with harassment, in the sense that it's one of those things that EA (and every other major publisher) is legally required to respond to when and if the issue arises. I'd rather not be the jerk who does this to you, even if you seem to be asking me to do it in your reply above. Admittedly, as a Captain America fan, I wouldn't feel too bad for you if someone else did. :p

P.S. I don't think the word "trolling" means what you think it means.

Seriously? Claiming that a characters name is breaking UO ROC and trademark violations? Your little spiel could easily apply to thousands of other characters in this game, millions if we are to go to other MMOs. Obviously no one cares about character names...

We're a bit spoiled in this regard, because GMs do not actively pursue trademark violations in UO and they never have. But the GMs haven't forgotten about the ROC, and they're required to respond to reports of trademark violations. Breaking the ROC in this case can incur a range of consequences, ranging from nothing, to a friendly warning, to an optional rename, to a gibberish rename, to outright deletion. If you're kind of a jerk, this is an excellent way to mess with your friends and enemies; report them, and depending on who responds, wait for the lulz. It largely depends on how friendly and familiar the GM is with UO. For the average UO player, learning about trademark-related conduct is a little like a Morlock learning about sunlight. UO has always been one of the safest places to violate other companies trademarks, but believe it or not, these dusty old rules exist for UO players. We [supposedly] waive certain ownership rights to the content we produce when we agree to our EULAs, and because publishers cannot waive ALL responsibility for the content they absorb through their servers, they're required to have their GMs respond to trademark violation complaints.

When Marvel sued Cryptic in 2004, they alleged the game allowed the creation of characters who infringe copyrights and trademarks, and sought unspecified damages and an injunction halting further sales and shutting down the game. Although the suit was settled in 2005, it was costly and eye-opening, and set a precedent across the industry. The defendants replied that the lawsuit was frivolous, and while many intellectual property analysts agreed, others noted that trademark law is structured such that, if a company believes their marks are being infringed upon, they have little choice but to file a lawsuit, regardless of its outcome, to preserve the strength of the marks. There have been scant few suits in the industry since, but because of the risk of costs, publishers now act as if one could exist behind any corner.

Sorry Rumpy, you are right it's messed up in Malas.
I figured you just had your game play window in a different area which is a common problem with tracking/houseplacement. When I went to test it I wasn't in Malas, I was thinking if I wasn't in Felucca I must be in Malas. Brain farted, but left the stuff under the line of dashes (-) just in case it'd help someone else. Looks like it was useful to Hattori Hanzo so my confusion was worth it to someone!
