Tracking Bug?

This is on sonoma, north outside of luna walls. This character name shows on tracking menu and is somehow is standing in a house of a friend. Using detecthidden doesnt seem to work, and even paged a GM, the GM said no one was there.

now either the GM is lying for some odd reason or something is bugged here. I have tried with a gm tracker character on one account, and 2 other novice skill tracking characters on 2 other accounts. all show this character there.

also, the vendor next door is a runic tool vendor and restocks daily, every now and then after the owner restocks the vendor, you see the vendor saying 'Rupert' as if the hidden character is buying things. I will try to remember to screenshot the next time i catch the vendor saying his name.

I know what it seems like, but if it was a hidden scripted character, why would the GM be unable to see the character at all?

The player might not be in the house, the arrow points in the direction of the player from where your character is.

since you're standing outside the house, the arrow is pointing East in UO, the said stealther is actually East of where you're standing not necessarily where the arrow is.

ive walked around him inside the house and the arrow follows him, on 3 accounts. even if he was outside the house, the gm said they couldnt see any hidden characters in the area. just seems odd, ill try reporting again later or on another day and hope to get another GM and maybe they will see the character.

actually that's not true. with GM tracking the arrow points to right where they are and sticks to them like glue.

i actually went to sonoma and too my GM tracer / detector and went and had a look and sure enough the fella is in the house right where the arrow built into the house is showing.

Absolutely right.. 100% Tram or Fel doesn't matter if someone is there Detect Hidden should reveal them.

HowEVER..... despite this if the person in question is the house owner you can't reveal them I don't think... you have to be Friended or co-owned to the house to use the detect Hidden... and for it to work at 100%...

i use tracking all the time in factions and whenever i use it the arrow points right to where they are.
then i detect hidden right there and they pop out.
then i kill them.
not sure why you guys would be having your arrows off from where the guy is.
unless maybe you guys arnt GM???

pics are taken with my gm tracker. checked again, with all accounts i got and they all still showin him standing in same spot. gonna try another page and hope a different GM comes and sees him.

If the house belongs to a friend, can't that friend do 'detect hidden' from inside the house?
The either 'I ban thee' or 'remove thyself'.

we have tried Detect hidden on the home owner character and co owner characters, nothing.

So I made a newbie char to see where this "Rupert" is... and he is located precisely in the center of the four gold piles I stacked around him in this image.



He's not in the house but obviously the tracking arrow is... the arrow is pointing east of where I am standing. when you get him on tracking the arrow will point in the direction he is (from you).

What I'm wondering is WHAT Rupert is doing.... I'm thinking those purple vendors are probably run by one of the search sites etc.... I'm just unsure if Rupert is another player re-selling, or perhaps a competing search site doing unsavory things..

PS... Getting a GM on Sonoma to do something is near impossible. The first time a scripter receives an ALERT to "attend" his pc & manages to actually answer the GM's question the GM then automatically puts a re-page on said person at the bottom of the Q from then on in my experience. I've had it take 6 pages & 2 actually RL days to get a person training Mysticism afk in the middle of nowhere (Tram) removed. 48 + hours of Cast, cast, cast, cast, cast, cast , MED etc... Anyway.....

In that specific instance the character in question was in the process of retraining his character so he could compete with mine in a certain PvM situtation. The guy specifically said "Once I copy your temp I'll be an @#$@# right back to you & hog the spawn & since it's tram you can't do anything".... I guess "do anything" was wrong since I knew roughly where his neighbor hood was & found him retraining....

Really, though, for as long as I can remember, Malas has always shown the tracking arrow to be "higher" than the actually trackee.
So as illustrated in the last picture, the arrow shows it as north-west of the actual location.

i was unaware of Malas having tracking arrow location issues, but thats not the concerning thing. the GM said they saw no hidden characters in the area at all, including the surrounding area around the house. So either the gm is blind, the char is not there and its some odd bug, or the gm knows the owner of the scripted shopper.

I think it's none of the above.
They more likely have a rule about revealing the presence of hidden players to other players.
I know a similar rule exists for the EMs.

The Gm is only allowed to tell you if Rupert is or not hidden in your house. The Gm knew he was outside your house, but wasn't allowed to say so. The GM would be interfering with Rupert' s play style.
I do see what your saying about the arrow though. Ive seen this at private idoced houses where it looks like hidden players are in the private houses. When they are hidden under the house sign waiting for it to fall.

I sent her cords to the house, exact directions.. guess what?? Ya, it got ignored by her and the rest of the DEV team 2 months later.

I agree this thread has turned into a waste of time. There is nothing illegal about someone standing outside of another persons house buying stuff. You can't draw the conclusion that they must be a scripter because they are hidden though, the reason no action was taken could just as easily be because the person is not scripting, they don't have to reveal themselves to you if they don't want to.

Just to elaborate, this follows along the same lines as the rule against replacing lost items. The Devs can't simply believe a players word that someone is doing something illegal (such as scripting). If they show up and said player responds then they don't have much reason to assume they are scripting. For all we know this player just likes to spend their time hidden purchasing items (if we are to assume this is what he/she is actually doing).

If they're scripting, perhaps they're poor coders and they're just buying any high-end runics automatically because they're usually cheap. The house owner should stick ridiculously overpriced runics up and see what happens imo!

Well, now I will have to go take a peek. I can say for sure that the vendor in question always magically restocks the items in the EXACT same positions.... so much so that you cannot even see the items underneath. Obvious much? LOL

The ALWAYS stocked vendors in purple just outside the North gate of luna have now moved 1 screen East to another house. I'm going to guess that the hidden person was doing something (auto buying / or other nasty things) to that vendor so they moved. I did a quick test on the purple vendors yesterday & over the course of 1 day I bought out all of a specific runic hammer type 5 times to have it restocked each time. I never saw the person and I think the smallest time increment was about 2 hours, but that's Mr. Johnny on the SPOT ! LOL...... Need to train tracking & put in 1 day & see who & what's going on... Scripting Much??? I think so......

Hmm.. I just checked on my stealther / tracker (Champ spawn protector) & Rupert is not there atm. There are 2 other characters though nearly standing on top of each other. Asterion II & a character named June are both chilling near the vendors now. I'm guessing that because of this thread some people have taken an interest & are giving the scripters problems heh. Now we will see if the Vendor continues to be restocked like a machine we know Rupert was probably just buying stuff... Actually it just occurred to be but the best Runic hammer I've seen on this vendor is Gold, and I occasionally see Spined Runic sewing kits but never Horned or Barbed.... Wondering if the sewing kits & all high level Runic hammers are just instant bought by Rupert perhaps??? Maybe Agapipe , Verite, Valorite just don't go on the Vendor... Who knows..

Wow..I am a celebrity! My main char is Asterion II...I didn't know I was hanging out there. Generally I just recall in and buy the spined kits and 120 Tailors and zoom away....

Also Peon..there is a Val hammer there now...so gonna say a negative on your theory for the Runics.

This same guy (guessing by shop layout) also has vendors on Atl south of Luna along the road...so my guess is on the smith runics he takes a bulk of them to Atl..just a guess though. Market is a bit better there for them.

Just so we all know what this vendor house does: he restocks both vendors a guaranteed 2-4 times each day, everyday, and has for the past 6 months or so. First vendor is always stocked with 6 barbed kits, 6 horned kits and they instantly sell out (hence Rubert or whoever gets there first), Val hammer all the way down to shadow hammers. Each talisman there is stacked at least 4 deep. Bless clothing deeds are stacked 4 deep. 2nd vendor always has 48-54 powder of fort and the deeds for residue amd essence are stacked a few deep as well.

So on average, these 2 vendors at a MINIMAL daily stock 12 barbed kits, 12 horned kits, 2 val hammers, 2 verite hammers, every possible collection talisman available and 200 powder of fort. Ya, real honest player there. Get real.

(and now Black Majick is also thinking this same vendor has time to do said hammers on a daily basis on ATL too? LOL)

Newest Info! All vendors are empty with a new vendor stating "shop was moved". House is now slightly worn. Guessing said player(s) did not like the attention they got from this thread. But I doubt it was banned due to just saying it moved. The owner of that place has a Luna house as well and it's not condemned.

That took me 2 mins to find, they've just moved 1 house to the east.

The original Vendor house is nowed owned by OSI & is decaying though the house they moved to 1 screen EAST isn't LOL...

2nd... A character named Sebur is hidden outside the house & has been for a week+ ... I'm pretty sure he's auto buying Babred / Horned Runics & Dull Copper / Shadow Hammers since I've been checking religiously 3-4 times a day with no luck. I'm tired of it.... Someone else start paging too.
