Does anyone have the Tower of Roses Bod web address handy? I had to reformat my hard drive and lost a lot of information, including all of the Favorites I'd had saved in IE. I'm working on some Bods and need to check the site while I'm doing it.

Thanks!

Do you not know how to use google?

Seriously Connor. You must be the laziest person in the world. Next time go to www.google.com and type your question in there before you post it here. 95% of you questions will be answered without the need to post.

Seriously Theo, have you not heard of the fake UO sites that hit your comp with viruses and trojans? I've been hit by 2, the most recent caused me to have to yet again reformat my entire hard drive and resinstall all of my software all over again. Frankly, I'd prefer to have the exact address given to me by someone that has it bookmarked than to go to what would appear to be the actual site on Google and end up having to spend yet another entire day waiting for software to install.

Lazy, hardly. Cautious and playing it smart, yes.

Oh, and Google sucks btw. I never use it. Ask.com is much better. "I'm feeling lucky" has got to be the worst thing added to a search engine I've ever seen. That's just begging to get hit by viruses and trojans.

A - You are a real rebel dude. The world lives on Google. If it sucks why is it the #1 search engine HANDS down? Google makes $12b a year by being the best. Yes, thats right - it sux.

B - Don't use the 'I'm feeling lucky' then.

C - Use a virus scanner.

D - Stop going to porn sites - that is where your virus'es are comming from.

E - If you are really paranoid then do all your web browsing from a VM Image and stay off your local drive.

F - You are more likely to get a virus from the Ad's on Stratics than in general web browsing.

And I'd trust a google link before a random link from someone here.

Yes, 235 million searches per day on Google and we are all getting viruses from them. Thats about 1 per every person with a PC in the US per day.

Umm no, Google is the best search engine ever. And as for the "I'm Feeling Lucky" thing, don't use it. Other than that there is no way ask.com is better lol. But I guess if your using IE...rolleyes:

I'm not one of the sheep. Feel free to be one if you want. What you like and what I like don't have to be the same thing.

B - Don't use the 'I'm feeling lucky' then.
Since I don't use Google, obviously I don't. It was merely an example of a very poor feature of Google's.

C - Use a virus scanner.
I do, but since AV programs are written by humans, they can and do miss stuff.

D - Stop going to porn sites - that is where your virus'es are comming from.
Did you completely miss where I specifically stated that my problems stemmed from copycat UO sites? What you do and what I do are obviously not the same thing.

E - If you are really paranoid then do all your web browsing from a VM Image and stay off your local drive.
Did I say I was "really paranoid" or merely cautious?

Thought so.

F - You are more likely to get a virus from the Ad's on Stratics than in general web browsing.
That's happened too. Luckily my AV caught all of those. It didn't do so well on other UO related sites.

And I'd trust a google link before a random link from someone here.
I wouldn't trust either, but since I recognized the site address after seeing it there really wasn't an issue was there?

Yes, 235 million searches per day on Google and we are all getting viruses from them. Thats about 1 per every person with a PC in the US per day.
Now eliminate all of the people that DON'T play UO and go to UO related sites and rework the numbers.

All in all, I don't see wtf your problem is with me asking for a web address. It's my comp, not yours. It's my typing, not yours. It's my time, not yours.

Too many people worry about what everyone else is doing and don't pay enough attention to themselves....rolleyes:

Regardless, obviously you're being a waste of my time.

I only use FireFox, and I use Google almost everyday.

I have never had any Trojan or other virus.

I use McAfee, and Avast Antivirus. I love the "Trusted Site" from McAfee. It has steered me away from some sites that were less than good to visit. For example, I was looking up some Rush lyrics, and one site had major warnings pop up on McAfee. I simply selected a "Safe" site according to them, and it hasn't let me down yet.

Logic is awesome, as long as it is applied with reason. Especially when it is applied with reason.

You have to download Xmarks. (www.xmarks.com)
You will never lose your favorites/bookmarks again.
I use the Firefox version, but there's an IE version. Create a free account and every favorite will get saved at Xmarks for you.
The thing I love is, that any site I store here at work, will then be available at my home computers too! (you install it on each computer)

I think this is a must for us UO info freaks. UO can hardly be played without our resources.

Nice!

Personally I use Google Bookmarks (http://www.google.com/bookmarks/). That way I don't have to install a thing and have all my bookmarks available to me anytime from any browser on any computer with internet access.

<sarcasm>
Of course Google is the devil so perhaps I should rethink my bookmarking...

You can do the same thing with my.Yahoo. You can save your bookmarks there and keep them with your account for access on any computer.

But again - thats only us sheep using the most popular tools because they are the BEST.

Using substandard products just to be unique is crazy but whatever Connor.

Hi Conner,

You could also use the UltimaXbar, Tower of Roses has been in the Tools|Databases & Wikis menu for years... even has it's own menu.

Give it a try... you'll find it a great set of bookmarks, feeds, tools and safety links.

I haven't run Antivirus for over 4 years and I've never had a virus that I know of. Certainly not a crippling virus and I use google every day. I only download from sources I trust and if a website asks me to install anything, unless I'm certain what it is why would I need too?

Yeah...
Awful lot of anger going on here.
I use a bunch of Google's features, and the search almost exclusively. I've never had virus problems, and only ever had problems finding the information I'm looking for if it pretty much doesn't exist or shares common terms with other things.
I couldn't imagine -not- using Google, to be honest, and I'd hands-down recommend anyone who doesn't to do so.

But, there's no right or wrong answer.
You can't say "you don't use Google, so you're an idiot" or "you use Wikipedia, so you're an idiot".
If there were absolutely no merit to other search engines, then they wouldn't exist.
Similarly, with Wikipedia, and other sites that have followings or detractors - If you know how to use them properly, and do so, then they're good enough.
