Too Many Events too soon.

Before judging me i just think there are too many events too soon. don't get me wrong i enjoy the events but i feel i have no real life when these events are going on.

• I know its my fault in a way i am a rare collector by habbit now and i am always trying desperately to get at least one of each event item so i don't have to spend a small fortune on these items from players later on besides that i am broke now in uo. i spend like 90 percent of my non working, non sleeping, non eating time with these events so hopefully now you can understand my point in a way.

• Obvisouly i am not going to get each event item everytime an event happens i know that but that happens with some of the events. i feel maybe if we had 2 to 3 events a year max spread out through out the year that would be good enough.

• Sorry if this sounds like a rant its not meant too its more of a request. i need time to have a real life, time to relax, time to hunt, time to work on skills and time to fill my bods with over 3000 unfilled and unorganized bods i need time to get cracking on them.

• One Last thing if we could get the event items after the event without having to buy them from others i wouldnt mind it because there would be no pressure or rush to get the event items

Well it seems they stopped the strangers from spawning how many of the players here have been fortunate enough to get a magical locked box that part of the event seemed to be stopped too soon.

• that is just one example and with Melissa what percent of you got a crimson from melissa i haven't granted the crimson cinture can still be gotten from mel so not the best example there are other better examples from past events.

The more events the better. History has shown that when there are no events for a long period, many players leave the game.

Well, I didn't get a magical locked box but that is cause i boycotted that event when they made the loot spew out and rewarded those that didn't contribute.

As for Melissa, I think it ran on too long, it was farmed so heavily it was a joke and not just by the people that camped there trying for a crimson but by loads and loads of trial accounts of people farming spring cleaning tickets.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Melissa quest and hope more like it as long as they learn from these 2 and don't make it just another spot for people to camp and farm. I liked following the clues and was in the first group on my shard to find Melissa. So, while I am with the masses in hoping the next event has cool arty or prize, I would rather have it have no prize and just be fun if it is going to be so abused.

Its far far far better than the old GM events were hardly any notice at all was given !!! except the friends of the gm of course...at random times in the night.. the event lasted only hours and the only peeps there and that got the unique items were mainly peeps in the event ''click''......[end]

I think you needed to fine tune your poll a bit more before you posted it. Having that many choices doesn't really work towards getting a clear concensus.

Seven options and three seem to assert your own opinion in different ways.

As for the recent events, there was plenty of time to get any of the items you wanted. Maybe not 100 of each for vendor sales, but at least 1 for a personal collection.

Aren't you the same person that was complaining about the points turn in was ending too soon for you to farm enough points to get a suit for 20 some odd characters or something like that?

well (self-aggrandizing) with the magical lockboxes, I got 4 and gave 3 away. I got a crimson off melissa (I own just one myself, have already given 3 away) and gave it to a good friend who didn't have one. I assume I am not the only one who just wants one, doesn't care too much to sell off an item a good friend would like and doesn't have, so a lot of these types of things get shared.

yep they can easily tag it so that youngs don't get rewarded (you CAN drop young status you know) and they should have figured out a way to make people actually go through the steps, not just run to ilshenar and down the hole. The quest chain was fun, and I wonder how many people actually didn't even do it.

The problem with the events are the time span. The latest event with started in Moonglow months ago and they let it run until no one would even go there. Then they let the vanguard spawn forever until no one wanted to kill it anymore. Then the strangers were getting fun because of the special effects they would do. That ended without a reason or a post about it. Mellissa ended just right with the exception of letting the young players run rampant in there. Thats the only complaint I had about that.
They need to start an event and end it in a timely manner.

i think we need more events, its times like these 2-3 week periods that the game is boring.... events are what keep alot of people on in uo since there hasnt been any actual new content or exspansions to make things interesting again... has to be events and enough to keep people interested in doin things! thats how i feel

Holy cow. What would you have done in the time when there were WEEKLY events with no rares???? When the events were LIVE and did not go on for days on end?? I remember missing the grand finale leading up to LBR because it was live and I had to work that night. And that whole arc was changing every week, sometime more often.

We go months sometimes in between events and then they tend to lag on with no end in sight and/or storyline updates. As for the recent events, I haven't gotten anything since Dark Glow. I just don't care much for event items, except rubble. I would LOVE more rubble.

The Rat coin event was one weekend, I had no idea about it until I started seeing the coins on vendors. Everyone has the attitude that these events should go on and on so everyone and their mom can get something from it. It decreases the value of items and the excitement of the event.

I quit going to Moonglow event not cause I was bored with it, but because of the dregs of society that it brought to camping there. One such not so lovely person cursed me out for rezzing him, and another would curse out anyone that attacked the same demon berzerker as if it was his game alone and we were all supposed to stand there. Then the hordes of people that would run in with blackrock to cast on the shadowlords and then run back and wait for others to kill it off (although i did find if you got the shadow lord to 1/4 health and let it heal up some and beat down a couple times could get a cloak and the last person that used armegedon but didn't do any other damage just wasted a piece of blackrock) BTW it was the same person that cursed people for attacking demon berzerkers that made the melissa event less enjoyable as of course they were camped there telling people how to play "his game" and we should all just do as he says and stay out of his way. Luckily found the ignore option in KR and then it wasn't so bad.

So my main problem with the events of late isn't the devs, it is the garbage that collects there ruining the enjoyment of others. I mean come on, how do you curse someone out for rezzing you???

Hrmmmm THE RAT COINS were available at least 3 more weeks after the intial castle event.....but inside brit sewers,,all u had to do was kill standard rats..u could collect a bag of coins in a hour or so...

Reason? After doing something x amount of times i tend to want to do something different, and less events means less options, meaning less fun. You can only pvm or pvp so long before you want to do something different, and farming 1 monster is not fun after a few are done

I would argue that ideally there should always be events running and more than that, there should be multiple events running at the same time so that people have more than one option depending on their play style. The spring collection has been nice for that because it's given a new life to a variety of different activities.

I also think its nice when events to leave behind some new permanent content as they go.

there should be continuing events. event in UO should not be like the olympics because UO isn't gonna be around forever.

at this point, they need to balance constant storyline with bug fixing.

*Unless they quit and still post here for some reason. Or, they post here as a hobby, and play rarely. Two exceptions to the rule.

PS I think that if we have more events, the best way to run them would be to offer no new items, but instead a noble storyline. Then, people can do it for fun one time, if they wish, and not feel compelled to farm it over and over and over again to keep up with the Jones'. That is what bothers me, if I drill down to it.

Love the events but with lack of info provided at times its hard for casual players to find and do them.

For example's:
That invasion that happened in Moonglow lasted decent time but then 1 weekend I go and its some room that we answer a question and either get killed or get a glass dagger, by next weekend thats gone, so invasion lasted good but glass dagger was too short.
Then they had strangers popping into different dungeons and towns - hard to find when and where they were, and then poof there gone, of the 6 strangers I only ever got to fight 2, event arc was too short and too hard to find to enjoy.
The Melissa/murder event was a blast and while I would have loved her to hang around longer, the event did last long enough that I did get to enjoy it so it was a decent interval.

So consistancy of event arc lengths might be better with some lasting a month+ and then others lasting barely a week its hard for the weekend players (ie people with life/work outside of UO) to enjoy

I've come and gone from this game many times.. usually the reason for leaving is pure boredom. seen it all, done it all, nothing new in sight.
My punishment : missing an event or 2 in my downtime because i had no idea about them. They should email players letting them know about upcoming events.. give them time to resubscribe. More money for them.

yes, we need more events.Make them last long enough for everyone to enjoy but don't just leave it running and forget where the off switch is. I like things to get mixed up and change alot. I do think they owe us more strangers time . They had some un foreseen screw-ups with that. loot mess up in the beginning, loss of stranger because of shard crashes, major lag & crashes in Luna And then the hythloth chick just went on for much longer than the other strangers. They promised after all 6 were introduced they would start spawning randomly in their places. So i'm still waiting for that.

And i'm waiting to See how all these diffferent events tie in with eachother.. What does the magincia invasion have to do with the strangers? what do they have to do with Moonglow and Andrew with the glass dagger.. etc.
I never understabnd the events .. never much lore about them posted so that i could understand why i'm lkilling this or that creature to get something off of them .

You just have to not worry about a missed event here and there, I know you wanna collect stuff, but your greed is setting in ... you want less events so you can make them all, and get a chance at getting "everything" possible... not wanting to miss an event because then you wont have the item... That's what I read.

Go to the events you can, work your chars, miss a few... should be no big deal.

I vote for MORE events. Even though I have missed the last years worth of them. It sucks sure, I dont have a single event item from the past year... but does not mean I want there to be no events till I get more r/l time to play? No.

I don't have an issue with the number of events, it's the quality I'm concerned with. It was absolutely idiotic to start and event when all the information for the items hadn't even been patched in yet, and still isn't 12 days in from it's start.

Most of the time if the EMs are not careful the fel events easily turn into a disaster. There is a lot more planning and time involved with running a fel event (right) than there is needed for a trammel event. Unfortunately the EMs only have so many hours to dedicate towards any event...and it is even more unfortunate that it is the players themselves that are the reason pvp is often excluded.

Between the grief, bad language, and poor sportsmanship...can you blame an EM if they decide fel is not worth it to *them*?

Do you feel EMs must donate more of their *free* time to make players of fel happy? (I mean free time in the sense that they only get paid for so much that they do...much of the time they already put in is volunteered.)

@ Demon Killer...I have yet to see your involvement within the rares community. Not saying anything bad, but I just don't see you anywhere...ever.
