Tolerance in Today's Age

I have examined many posts about certain aspects in the game being limited or the same for all players. I have wondered if this has to do with today's day and age. A good example is the subject of tolerance. I was discussing the definition of tolerance in today's society (America) and it seems that tolerating something means that a person must accept whatever that may be or other wise they are being a bigot. However, if we examine the definition of tolerance, a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality, etc., differ from one's own; freedom from bigotry; we will find that it does not necessarily mean that we "must" accept that idea or whatever but perhaps allow that idea to have a fair walk down the catwalk. (before it gets pushed off of course.)

Can you put down the shotgun and take off the coonskin cap and try again?

LoL, it's philosophy class. Get's me to thinking about all kinds of crazy stuff. But if you think about it, it's kinda true in a political sense. Especially with all of the double standards running around nowadays.

I don't see an issue of overly tolerant political correctness so much as (often sloppy short-sighted) attempts to make everyone happy so they keep paying. For example, item insurance wasn't implimented to make everyone more equal, rather it was to keep people from getting mad and quitting because they lost their stuff. You can't say racist things in UO not because EA is sincerly dedicated to creating a world without racism, but rather EA believes most of its paying customers do not want to play a game where they have to hear racist stuff from other players.
