Tokuno Dyes on bed deeds

Last week I created two large bed deeds and dyed them with my Tokuno dye to turn the blankets blue. I tried to make another one today and I got a message about only special items can be dyed with this. Was there a patch? Did I forget a step? Anyone else have this problem?

special, like, frost wood, oak, blood etc.?
