Dear Event Manager(s),

having been somewhat annoyed about the previous Shadowlord spawns (because many character templates have been left out and couldn't achieve anything), I am positively surprised about the new quest, the Assassination of the Royal Council! This is one of the most exciting and entertaining system-driven quests I have ever attended! You did not need an uber fighting character or a tamer to get through the quest, and I appreciate that! The hints and clues were solvable, but not too easy. Also, the quest leads people through interesting places in Sosoria that which - until today - were unknown to many. This made everything extra fascinating! The rewards are not overpowered, but useful nevertheless.

Keep going! These kinds of quests are brilliant and a very welcome change to the monster bashing routine!

If you plan to implement more of such quests in the future, it will be appreciated! A suggestion: You could leave those quests in place after the event is done (just scale down the rewards a bit), so future players can have fun, too.

The United Pirates of Catskills are having a lot of fun!

I have to say thanks and well done also. I've actually been able to get ML resources for once in my UO life without having to pay out the butt for them...not to mention the collection points. Outstanding job!

Seconded, thirded, fifthed, or whatever.

Honestly, I feel a bit guilty about how little time I spent with my husband this weekend. :blushing: But this quest is fantastic, and the satisfaction of solving each part on Friday evening was immense. Thanks so much!

Yes, Great job and very enjoyable event, very challenging but doable (with some hints, lol) Thanks for all your hard work, I look forward to future events like this.

I'm still lost as to what quest other than the council assassination you guys are talking about.....

That's exactly the quest I am talking about. It sometimes is referred to as "quests", as it consists of two parts (the first part where you have to find Casca the Ambassador, and the second part where you have to find Melissa the servant of Nosfentor).

Then it's the finding of Casca the Ambassador that some of us have no knowledge of at all. The only reason I found out about the quest itself is I just happened to pop over to Brit bank and saw someone needed a pet rez so came back with my tamer. When I got back and went down to ground level to do the rez I saw the Town Crier spouting off about the murder so went directly to Brit castle at that point.

So where does it all begin? Anyone that had seen the announcement as I had would have done the same as I did and headed straight for the castle.

It all begins at the crime scene in the castle. You start the quest there, and if you follow the leads consequently (while ignoring the people saying "come to the Wisp Dungeon and speak the password xxx", and ignoring misleading hints on some websites), you will end up finding the Casca the Ambassador down in the Ethereal Fortress. Upon receiving your reward for this, you will get the next hint for starting part 2 of the quest.

This still leaves out a huge part. Following the books leads straight to the Wisp Dungeon, at least the way that I read them. Someone should really post a step by step instruction spoiler for those of us that missed out on what seems to be half of the quest chain.

I have to say it is a great event as well....just wish they would have thought it through a little more so that you can't create a throw away account just to run newbies through the rescue Casca part and rack up millions in spring cleaning points.

would be simple... no characters under 30 days being able to do the quest?

Ok, well I guess it might have helped if I'd ever heard of an actual Ethereal Fortress before lol. I had no clue that was there. I'd automatically assumed that it was a reference to the Wisp Dungeon since they're an ethereal creature, and when I found Melissa, figured I was on the right track. Thanks for the link. I just walked my stealther through and got the reward, and am in the process now of utilizing my plethora of soulstones and fragments to transfer those skills over to the characters that don't have Honor so they can do the quest as well.

I do have a question for Jeremy or anyone else that would like to comment though...

Why on earth would you put so many Ancient Liches and Rotting Corpses in the same room? All that does is pretty much guarantee that no one will ever spend any time in there hunting those creatures. I've actually been planning for quite some time to take on an Ancient Lich since it's the only creature in UO that I haven't fought yet, and a paragon version would be even better, but after seeing that room, it's never going to happen.

I was at first dissapointed with it but it later became apparent that they had took measures to ensure everyone could eventually get a cloak. Heres why...

On the first night it took me two hours or so to do the quest, only to find when I get to Melissa that she can't be discorded nor (despite spawning in a room with a balron) could she be provoked. As there were so few in there at that point my bard would have no hope of killing her. I switched to my tamer who skipped the entire quest, by now there were a few more in there and a few minutes with a pet chewing on her gave the cloak.

Since the first night it's been busy in there and as only the people who haven't got cloaks get counted for one I was able to go back and get one on all my characters.

So all in all I think it's been a good event/quest just a bit annoyed that again discord and provoke were excluded, couldn't even provoke the imps on her ffs!

A really huge thumbs up to the devs for this new quest. I had oodles of fun friday night figuring things out and getting help from others and helping out others. This one really brought the community together. The best part was I thought I was finished after rescuing Casca, just to log on the next morning to find out there was more fun in store for me!!! I plan on doing this quest with all of my chars so I can prolong the fun. Keep more quests like this coming!:thumbup::bowdown:

I was glad they made Melissa's loot good enough that people would continue to kill her so as to allow weaker chars to get in. That took some foresight I hadn't seen in UO for some time.

Actually I took our guild there on a guild hunt about a month ago. With enough peole and some good cross healing, we just tore through those rooms. Our alliance leader got a paragon Ogre lord chest which is rather cool, as it's the only place I know of in the game to get one. It came in real handy during this event since we had just been there.

Adding my kuddos to the dev team, this was a very well thought out event. The story was interesting, the clues not too easy to follow, but solvable. Everyone had a really great time. Best event in a very long time.

The whole of that dungeon also has a one tile line of sight so it's not too hard to trap all the excess behind door number 2. (well, wasn't before they put the new password on it anyway)

Yes! Great fun! So many helpful players too!

MAB, Gia, Serenity, so many! Never got cloak, probably won't but the rest was much fun! Thanks!

I am wondering though what the rest of the new items on the list are for? Like a deed for a cactus. Vet rewards? Or quest stuff?

One thing, it would have been/ would be nice if the decay timer were a bit shorter.

With the Mass Killing going on the NPC Corpses were every where. Piled high.

i also agree that this event was well thought out. multiple steps, requiring collaboration, making use of ilshenar and the lost lands, etc. etc.. i have always been a fan of the ultima series and it is nice to see that someone else at EAMythic cares enough to add depth and gameplay to the game

I agree. This event made me very excited. Combined with this event, I've also noticed an influx in new players entering the world of Britannia.. Events being hosted while new players are joining is key, since an active event staff is rare to find in games today. If Stygian Abyss remains on a semi-stable 'schedule' and is released sometime soon, it may help this game a lot.

I couldn't agree more! Thank you Dev's for the awesome event! The most fun our guild has had in quite a while with a UO run event. Also great job with the consistent communication in the forums during the event by Dev's!

Thanks Again & please keep it up!

Your first mistake was to think the EA actually put any thought into their decisions.

Your second mistake was to think that even if they could come up with the idea, that they could actually implement it correctly.

I can comment on the rest of the event since I didn't participate in it.

i know alot of ppl have been mad at ea for a long time, for damn good reason, but despite the neglect on certain issues, this def is a fun lil event.
it runs right down the same road that drew me to all the original ultimas, long b4 the online version.
good job!

p.s. uhm ...if anyone should feel generous and compassionate enuf to assist with 'how the hell i make those lil pics and sigs and stuff', i would kindly lay this razor down and step away from the mirror! (semi-quote from an old jim carrey stand-up act)

I liked this event too. Any issues I had with it just seem so minor by comparison to how much fun it was overall.

I like how the Warriors of Destiny event cycle is incorporating different kinds of events.

Thanks for this.

After all the criticism about people exploiting event rewards with ghosts and [young] characters, I feel that I need to bump this.

I still think the Event Managers and Devs did a great job! And of course, there always is room for improvement. I am sure that for the next event our criticism will be considered.
