[Carpentry] Tinkering Skill and Making Lockable Crates

Is there anyway to turn off the automatic use of Tinkering to make crates lockable? I am training Carpentry by making Medium Crates and it makes it a pain to sell them when I have to go to the Tinker shop and sell the copper keys first. I don't have a soulstone, or I would just stone off my Tinkering skill.
