here is a in game paragraph.
do you know where it comes from and what it is about?

very few do.

Destruction greets your eyes as you peer into the dark depths of the shard. The dead world below spins slowly, the stars above all but dark, the ruins of kingdoms littered across the face of the land as so many piles of ash. A vision of the people within reveals fear, uncertainty, and a doubt clouding the minds of even the noblest of men, few though they are. Darkness has fallen upon this shard, consuming all who once lived peacefully within...
thought some of you might find it interesting.
if anyone can guess where it comes from ill give you 1 million gold in game on any normal North American production shard if you can correctly guess it.

if no one can ill reveal it this evening.
enjoy!

Isn't it from the opening movie, describing what happened when the gem broke, creating the different shards?

Return of the Shadowlords? The rift or hole in the ground in Moonglow and you were sent to choose who you followed and if you chose wrong you were killed? I believe shortly after that or as a part of that event, Fallen Warriors, Daemon Berserkers, Dark Wisps, the annoying Fetid Essences and other creatures. invaded Moonglow. Main characters were Kronos, Dexter and Inu the Crone.

This is correct.

The language reflects that within the Shard is a world, just like the one our characters live on, save that their fate is within our hands if we handle that particular Shard of the Gem.

No I'm not trying to enter the contest, adding to what appears to be the correct answer.

Since you didn't say the prize was only for the first one to respond, I'm guessing the same as Xalan. I'll let you know where to bring my million, lol, jk. This is a tough crowd to stump, Voodoo, too many UO Mensa members here.

Now the real contest would be the flipside. A million to anyone that can pose a legit, UO related, question that can't be correctly guessed. Like to see what that one would look like.

Just tested my shard of the gem of immortality, and well the text was different, both evil and good karma.

ok dragonater - what are the red shovels and pickaxes for? hahahahahahhaa
hahahahahahaa is right Lorddog, if you're askin me, lol. I'm definitely not a member of the, above mentioned, UO mensa crowd. But if I had to guess, I'd say to dig out some some kind of Red rocks. See what I mean, haha.

You're conflating a couple of different things, though all of them were part of the epic Warriors of Destiny event cycle.

At one point, you could through Moonglow enter a little sub-plane under the sway of a little fellow named Andrew. He did a tarot card game with you, and asked you to side with the Shadowlords. If you refused, he brought you back to Moonglow and killed you.

At a separate point in that same scenario, I forget if it was after or before, a Blackrock Detector made by a great but misguided wizard named Kronos blew a hole in the fabric of reality (it had been manipulated behind the scenes by one of Kronos's assistants) into an alternate Moonglow, called "the Moonglow bubble" by some.

The Shadowlords walked through the portal and entered our world. You could also go into the bubble and fight their minions. Some of those minions physically resembled the Ethereal Warriors found in Ilshenar, but Draconi was clear at the time: Those were now "Fallen Warriors," who served the Shadowlords. As far as I could tell everything through the portal into the Moonglow bubble was evil.

Draconi made reference to "making a choice," but as far as I can tell the choice was at once simpler and more complicated than good vs evil. After you first went into the bubble, you were trapped for awhile, then you could get back out. You chose to leave as soon as you were able, or you chose to stay and battle more of the Shadowlords' minions. If you stayed, you got to witness an extended dialogue between The Time Lord and Astaroth, the Shadowlord of Hate. (It's unconfirmed by Draconi that this was the choice, but it's hard to imagine what else he could've been referring to.

Isn't that what I said? Was not the event the Return of the Shadowlords?

we have a winner!
im not sure how bad of karma you need before you get the 'dead world message' but that is the text you get off the Shard of Gem of Immortality if you are a murderer (outcast, dreadlord)

at the time that they came out i actually sat back and tried to get all the different karma level texts and i have them written down.... somewhere.... im actually surprised that they arnt listed in a write up somewhere.

Xalan, let me know what shard to meet you on with your prize.
and if you dont want your million just say so and i shall cut it into piles and drop them at new haven of the shard or your choice in your name.
