I'm one of the people who hate Christmas decor being put up before Thanksgiving. I think its tacky and designed only to get people programmed to overspend at sales thinking about gifts for people. :p

There is a lady in my RL neighborhood who had a tree up the day after Halloween. I dread the eyesore her front yard will become when her poor husband gets done setting up all the animatronic crap. *shudders*

I love Christmas decorations after Thankgiving, but I do tend to have my lights up and ready in November, only because I just dont like standing in the 20 degrees hanging them up, as for sales yes Im the crazy one in line at midnight to get that bargain, around here we call it *black friday* I like to refer to it as gm shopping :)

My tradition has always been to decorate my house for Christmas on Thanksgiving day morning. Then the guests arrive for the dinner that night the entire house inside and out has been turned in to a Xmas Wonderland. However the actual diningroom table is still decorated in autumnal/thanksging decor.

As an older gal I preferred it as it once was then stores, ec t did not get decorated until the week before Thanksgiving.

On the shopping subject. I do not step foot in a department store between Thanksgiving and Xmas. I will do after Xmas sales.

I purchase my holiday gifts throughout the entire year. Rather than rush the last month to find just the right thing ( or anything ) for a certain person I purchase items whenever I come across something that reminds me of or seem perfect for a certain person. Often I find Xmas gifts fr people while I am on vacation.

* Dislikes over decorated animated crap *

Anyone that decorates before thanksgiving needs to be sent to Yew Jail for 90 day midemeanor.

Anytime AFTER thanksgiving is perfectly fine to start your decorations.

*laughs* I am somewhat anti-Christmas. To me Christmas has lost most all it's meaning in the frenzy of gifting and sales and has become a satanistic event of sorts... kind of have the belief that Satan has turned everyone into focusing on Santa and getting stuff so everyone will forget the REAL reason we give gifts and celebrate Christmas... which is to honor Jesus and remember the gifts that were brought to him on the night of his birth.

As for decorating I don't decorate anything IRL. I no longer do much of anything for Christmas and since my Father died just before Christmas last year I am seriously NOT looking forward to Christmas this year.

However for the last probably 6 or 7 years my kids know that the REAL gifting done at our house comes at Tax return time.... NOT at Christmas....Christmas is when we think about Jesus and being together.
