If you've watched an NHL hockey game recently you may have noticed that on top of the player's helmets is often an ad for a sportsbook. On their jersey's is another ad for a sportsbook. On the boards around the Arena, same deal. You may see it in the NBA and NFL too. Most US states and Canadian provinces have local sportsbooks but for each of those 100 more exist online. Revenue from gambling is generally not taxable for the common bettor, one has to be labeled a professional bettor to pay taxes on winnings else everyone would be able to claim gambling losses as a write off. Sports betting is now mainstream and legal, during the pandemic their company stock prices have surged as well. Point is... its now legal to wager on sports.
We have UO casinos already, but no sportsbook. No place to put up 100k gold on tonight's game, using the common universal vegas point spread lines.
I'm not promoting sports gambling, some people in general should never gamble, I'm just pointing out it's legal almost everywhere and is a great source of entertainment if you have self control. It adds some fun to watching the game.
If there be a UO bookie out there, I've yet to meet him/her.... even at the UO casinos. I'd take some NFL Broncos at +9.5 pts vs the Chiefs tonight if there was! Broncos won't lose by 10 or more with that defense!
My concern... AGE. If the mods of this forum feel that, despite being legal and widespread, "100k Gold on the Broncos" should not be mentioned for fear young people may see it, like they do the ads on a player uniforms, then kindly delete this post. Thanks. My opinion is that parents need to parent, obviously.
