[Throwing] Throwing/Mystic Template Help

Hello Everyone,
I have been playing Mystic Mage for a long time and I would like to add throwing to the mix.

I am thinking of the following template:

120 - Mysticism
120 - Focus
120 - Throwing
100 - Tactics
100 - Mage
110 - Meditation
65 - Bushido or Chivalry

I included meditation since this template is very manna intense and i will be lacking manna since I need stamina as well.

My questions is if 90 Stamina is enough and should i go with bushido or chivalry.

I am leaning toward bushido so that I can Honor the targets and LS as enemy of one is only good for boss fights and other skills are not as effective with low Chivalry.

I was thinking of dropping Med and adding necro for Vampire form but thank i would be unable to use Mystic heal due to garlic penalty but I could still use healing stone if the weapon is balanced.

Let me know what you think and what your templates are.

Thank you,
Z

Ok throwing weapons are one handed. If you’re planning on using a shield I would advise against it unless you’re planning on going with parry (I still probably would not do it). 90 stamina is nowhere near good enough. I am not sure how effective this would be as every time you cast your going to stop throwing. I would drop the med and the magery as I just don't think your going to be using them much. I would take both bush and chiv in their place or run anatomy for the damage. If you want the whammy edge you need necro (at least enough to run wraith form) but having 100 SS is critical. I am not saying that this temp will not work, but its going to be a hard one to run. You will not be able to hit the 4/6 that’s really key to a lot of the key strengths of the mystic thrower.

Its the same with all the caster/dexxer templates. A specialist will do more damage and/or have better survivability in most cases . You either need sick equipment or just play hybrids for fun or a special purpose.
Cast an rc and then use throwing sounds nice in theory, in practice against hard enemies the mage or the dexxer have an advantage most of the time.

With this template you can play as a Mystic/Mage and use Throwing for:
1. To get defensive ability (120 fighting skill)
2. Mortal Strike when you need it
3. Slayer and 25 DCI on your weapon
4. Additional mana from HML
5. Additional damage from swings between spells

But you loose modes you could get from a shield. With 90 stamina and just 65 bushido or chivalry you can't get good damage from throwing. I'm not sure that replacing SDI with HCI/DI on your suit will be profitable.
Also I don't think you need bushido/chivalry on this template. It may be better to get SW instead (and you can drop tactics to 90 and may be drop meditation a bit).

If you are going to have a Throwing as your main damage source you need 165 stamina and high DI/HCI/SSI.

p.s.
You can't use a shield because you will not be able to hit anything.
You needn't balance to use potions and healing stone.
Healing from a healing stone will not be enough (big timeout, low storage, difficult to recast while in fight)

Form the other side the main mysticism spell is RC. And you needn't SDI/high mana to use it. So you can make your char as a dexter that benefits from having mysticism.

That template may work well for group hunting, if running solo you will get into trouble with anything serious. Char has no resists and needs mana to heal.
Chiv may be the better solution then bushido here, divine fury helps with ssi,di and hci and with eoo and consecrate + slayer weapon you could do decent damage. Forget about lighting strike, it costs way to much mana now and you already need a lot.
Weapon wise, a cyclone with 35 ssi needs 120 stam. A boomerang needs less but does next to no damage without high anatomy/tactics.
Hld and hla on weapon would help your rc a bit, but you can have that effect with a mage weapon.
With 1/3 casting, 15 hci and 25 di your jewelry will be full, not much room for sdi. So everything else has to go on armor and you will be short on something.

It looks like the dream is dead :sad3:

I was hoping to do Mini Champs in Abyss with this character so i think ill forget about throwing and add provocation or peace

Thank you for responding.

It can but it’s not a universal. Again most of the issues concern mana and how to get it back. This temp is similar to the pure throwing mystic but the magery in there seems to be duplicating a bit too much in the mystic area. I would go with a more pure mystic thrower if you’re looking at doing it that way.

That is one of the best PvM templates in the game and don't let anyone tell you any different. I play one with 91 Stam and I can solo Stygian dragon and just about anything else in the game. It is all about your tactics. I run with protection on and use the Mana leech on my weapon along with a fair amount of mana regen to take care of the mana needs.

Magery is for invis and other defense. I use RC to tank and Mass sleep as needed. Lots of AI's and keep up the RC's.
