So after the the higher ups spent all this thought on styigain abyss they only came up with one new way of fighting since gargs cant use bows. throwing nice concept.how many new weps will you have? each of the other skills has 10+ ummmm 3 DOH! Seems like throwing has been the biggest waste bought a 120 scroll the other day for 100k on atl i think 120 chiv goes for more. It really sucks cause i see there could be some potenial here but the numbers of weps and the limited range bite the big one . anyone out there using throwing for pvp? i dont care about roleplaying trammie fights i want real fights being won. let me know what you think thanks.TYR

No.

It has potential, based on the specials on the weaps, and the "speed" of them such as basically a comp bow as a 3s weapon.

however.

Throwing is nearly twice as slow as other weapon skills, because it takes the throwing motion, the throw, and the weapon to come back to you, all into account for a "swing" before you can throw again. Making it just too slow.

It is also crippled by a graphics glitch that appears to not allow you to ever hit your first target on the first "swing"

Couple that with penalties for distance, lack of artifacts for a gargoyle (hit chance/defence chance anyone?) and it just plain starts to suck.

see i think a couple more weps with a touch of distance would make it better but im not sure but right now throwing seems to be the laughing stock of uo.while its big brother mysticism is rocking it out.the pentalies for distance is a complete joke it works great if your bringing down a corpser but anything that moves including you is just to hard to real time adj for in a fight. i would be sweet if they made it do extra dmg or something if you were standing right next to your target if you had swords or fencing but i think thats way out for uo enginers league. it is an ugly step child, I've been working a chiv, parry, bushido thrower up, but it's caty-whompus.

there are 3 weaps total..

4 second soul glaive with specials of A/I and Mortal.. fastest you can do is 1.5 with 55 SSI AND 150 Stam.. hard to keep
3 second Cyclone with specials of Moving shot and Infused throw( supposed to do increased damage and either STUN OR DISMOUNT).. getting that puppy down to 1.25 is easier.. with 35 SSI and 120 Stam
2 second Boomerang..with Concussion and Mystic Arc Specials (Arc supposed to hit multiple targets with Chaos energy.. but only if your targets are already in combat with you). Obviously easy enough to get to 1.25 seconds with just your stam.. saving a slot to add another mod when you imbue.. but I've just not seen mystic arc do much in pvm.. let alone pvp to make it worth it.

Add in the much discussed missing first shots, the complete mess up which is parry/throwing/bushido, the drawbacks of good garg stuff, it's not worth it if you want to do serious pvp.

I think in UO "reality" most Gargoyles would have seen how many more benefits Archery has, and they would have immediatly put down thier throwing weapons and picked up Bows. It woulds have taken some time, but why can't Gargoyles use bows? Hhmm 2 hands 2 arms, they stand and fly upright. Don't see a problem.

I do have a Thrower that does pretty good in PvP. He is a Mystic/Thrower with Magery. He has no Eval or Med, but 120 Mysticism, 120 Focus and lots of Mana regen items does well. Cyclones are great for the chase, with a Spell plauge. Oh, and the Infused throw seems to work like Bladeweave, giving a random special like Bleed, Para, or Mortal, all of which I have had it do.

And as for weapons, I would only recommend the Soul Glave and Cyclone. It is the ranges, SG max 11, Cyclone max 8 (I think) and Boomerange max 6 (sad! and useless & gets the crapiest damage)
