RoT is faster with some skills than many prodo skills, plus, it weeds out the whiners.

It has its pros and cons.

I like it cuz I´d rather wait a little longer to max my PvM skills and save a LOT of materials on my crafting skills than the other way around... :)

When I'm working my RoT, I plant thorns in between gains, or play solitaire :)

RoT is better for most of the skills in the game.

its only really slower if your on a prodo shard and constantly using a skill, like on a golem.

but ROT saves tons on mats for crafting skills, and saves lots of pointless time grinding. And it makes hard skills like taming more bareable.

i wish the cap was increased though, 3 months to compelte a character...

I LOVE RoT for its benefits.. but absolutely hate it when I'm training 4 skills at once.. 6 weeks to GM? C'est la vie.

I'll gladly take RoT over GGS any day. I swear, I always thought GGS was broken when I was between gains. lol

Find a guild that fits your playstyle and if they utilize ventrillo, which most do, it helps with the boredom. If you don't already have a timer, go to www.elegantpie.com and download the Egg Timer. It is very helpful with RoT so you don't miss any gains. Try to take a break once in a while and go out and have a little fun if you can. :)

Ever notice how we have 90% less Co0LDo0d3z than other shards? This is a major part of the reason. Sometimes it sucks horribly.. but it keeps the prodo losers from coming only to place a house/script a (whatsit) or a (whosit)

Don't post propoganda on newbie threads! Watching the clock while watching a tv show/movie is just as good.

RoT is not bad now, just forget about it and play the game and you will gain when playing.
I can tell you, RoT is much faster than skill gain was on normal shards the first year of UO.

Also RoT is much faster than it was a few years ago.

Look at this old RoT gains and be happy for what you have now.

Skill points for skills under 70 points (real skill, not displayed) will gain as normal shards -- including “power hour” point gain capability.
Skill points for skills between 70 and 79.9 points will gain a maximum of 3.6 points total per day, with a minimum of 20 minutes between point gained.
Skill points for skills between 80 and 98.9 points will gain a maximum of 2 points total per day, with a minimum of 40 minutes between point gained.
Skill points for skills 99.0 points and up will gain a maximum of 2 points total per day, with a minimum of 60 minutes between point gained.

I absolutely hate ROT...some days I only get .6 in points per day because i hate running back to the computer to log on and get stupid gains.

If you use the SA client you can turn timestamps on, very handy for RoT, since you can see the time of your last gain in the chat log window :)

(Timestamps currently break word wrap though, so watch out!)

What propaganda? It's not as if she was saying to join her guild. I thought it was just a helpful suggestion.

weird I love rot. I ****ing hate spending hours and hours and often wasting scads of resources training a skill to get like .3.

Used to drive me up a friggin wall. I don't mind at all that it takes longer in days(for some skills) cause I don't have to spend much time on it, and I know when it will be done.

As someone who played back before siege existed, when skill gain was...absolutely...savage (thinking about gming taming back then still makes me cringe) ROT is fantastic. One of my favorite features of siege.

while rot does slow my training down a bit because I just can't keep up with logging in to get a gain. it can also be a godsend like for example with taming getting it to ROT was hell, I couldn't imagine going further with the GGS system.

When you have plenty of time to play ROT can suck butt.

But I also found that ROT is great for those days you aren't playing and can just log in and get great gains almost automatically.

Depending on the skill your training ROT can be absolutely awesome when combined with an alacrity scroll :danceb::danceb:

Man is that a fact. Cart, lockpicking, poison, detect, remove trap, tracking- they are no brainers. I used to work at gaining mastery of a skill- now I work at hitting 70.1
